Context of Job 36:29
27For He draws up the drops of water; They distill rain from its celestial stream, 28Which clouds pour down; They drip upon mankind abundantly. Can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds, The thundering of His pavilion? 30Behold, He spreads His lightning about Him, And He covers the depths of the sea. 31For by them He judges peoples; He gives food in abundance.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 29Can any understand the spreadings of the clouds - Though the vapor appear to be fortuitously raised, and subject, when suspended in the atmosphere, to innumerable accidents, to different winds and currents which might drive it all to the sandy deserts, or direct its course so that it should fall again into the great deep from which it has been exhaled, without watering and refreshing the earth; yet so does the good and wise providence of God manage this…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 29Also, can any understand the spreadings of the clouds? - The out spreading - the manner in which they expand themselves over us. The idea is, that the manner in which the clouds seem to “spread out,” or unfold themselves on the sky, could not be explained, and was a striking proof of the wisdom and power of God. In the early periods of the world, it could not be expected that the causes of these phenomena would be known. Now that the causes “are” better…Read the comment

Man may see God's works, and is capable of discerning his hand in them, which the beasts are not, therefore they ought to give him the glory. But while the worker of iniquity ought to tremble, the true believer should rejoice. Children should hear with pleasure their Father's voice, even when he speaks in terror to his…Read the comment
