2 Corinthians 11:5-33
5For I consider myself 1not in the least inferior to the 2most eminent apostles. 6But even if I am 3unskilled in speech, yet I am not so in 4knowledge; in fact, in every way we have 5made this evident to you in all things.
7Or 6did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the 7gospel of God to you 8without charge? 8I robbed other churches by 9taking wages from them to serve you; 9and when I was present with you and was in need, I was 10not a burden to anyone; for when 11the brothers came from 12Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from 13being a burden to you, 14and will continue to do so. 1015As the truth of Christ is in me, 16this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of 17Achaia. 11Why? 18Because I do not love you? 19God knows that I do!
12But what I am doing I will also continue to do, 20so that I may eliminate the opportunity from those who want an opportunity to be 21regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. 13For such men are 22false apostles, 23deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14No wonder, for even 24Satan disguises himself as an 25angel of light. 15Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, 26whose end will be according to their deeds.
1627Again I say, let no one think me foolish; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. 17What I am saying, I am not saying 2829as the Lord would, but as 30in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. 18Since 31many boast 32according to the flesh, I will boast also. 19For you, 33being so wise, tolerate the foolish gladly. 20For you tolerate it if anyone 34enslaves you, if anyone 35devours you, if anyone 36takes advantage of you, if anyone 37exalts himself, if anyone 38hits you in the face. 21To my 39shame I must say that we have been 40weak by comparison.
But in whatever respect anyone else 41is bold--I am 42speaking in foolishness--I too am bold. 22Are they 43Hebrews? 44So am I. Are they 45Israelites? 46So am I. Are they 4748descendants of Abraham? 49So am I. 23Are they 50servants of Christ?--I am speaking as if insane--I more so; in 51far more labors, in 52far more imprisonments, 5354beaten times without number, often in danger of 55death. 24Five times I received from the Jews 56thirty-nine lashes. 25Three times I was 57beaten with rods, once I was 58stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea. 26I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my 59countrymen, dangers from the 60Gentiles, dangers in the 61city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among 62false brothers; 27I have been in 63labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in 64hunger and thirst, often 65without food, in cold and 6667exposure. 28Apart from such 68external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for 69all the churches. 29Who is 70weak without my being weak? Who is 71led into sin 72without my intense concern?
30If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my 73weakness. 31The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, 74He who is blessed forever, 75knows that I am not lying. 32In 76Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was 77guarding the city of the Damascenes in order to seize me, 33and I was let down in a basket 78through a window 79in the wall, and so escaped his hands.
