2 Corinthians 11:5-33

5For I consider myself 1not in the least inferior to the 2most eminent apostles. 6But even if I am 3unskilled in speech, yet I am not so in 4knowledge; in fact, in every way we have 5made this evident to you in all things.

7Or 6did I commit a sin in humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the 7gospel of God to you 8without charge? 8I robbed other churches by 9taking wages from them to serve you; 9and when I was present with you and was in need, I was 10not a burden to anyone; for when 11the brethren came from 12Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from 13being a burden to you, 14and will continue to do so. 1015As the truth of Christ is in me, 16this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of 17Achaia. 11Why? 18Because I do not love you? 19God knows I do!

12But what I am doing I will continue to do, 20so that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be 21regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. 13For such men are 22false apostles, 23deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14No wonder, for even 24Satan disguises himself as an 25angel of light. 15Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, 26whose end will be according to their deeds.

1627Again I say, let no one think me foolish; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. 17What I am saying, I am not saying 2829as the Lord would, but as 30in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. 18Since 31many boast 32according to the flesh, I will boast also. 19For you, 33being so wise, tolerate the foolish gladly. 20For you tolerate it if anyone 34enslaves you, anyone 35devours you, anyone 36takes advantage of you, anyone 37exalts himself, anyone 38hits you in the face. 21To my 39shame I must say that we have been 40weak by comparison.

But in whatever respect anyone else 41is bold--I 42speak in foolishness--I am just as bold myself. 22Are they 43Hebrews? 44So am I. Are they 45Israelites? 46So am I. Are they 4748descendants of Abraham? 49So am I. 23Are they 50servants of Christ?--I speak as if insane--I more so; in 5152far more labors, in 5354far more imprisonments, 5556beaten times without number, often in 57danger of death. 24Five times I received from the Jews 58thirty-nine lashes. 25Three times I was 59beaten with rods, once I was 60stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent in the deep. 26I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my 61countrymen, dangers from the 62Gentiles, dangers in the 63city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among 64false brethren; 27I have been in 65labor and hardship, 66through many sleepless nights, in 67hunger and thirst, often 68without food, in cold and 6970exposure. 28Apart from such 71external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for 72all the churches. 29Who is 73weak without my being weak? Who is 74led into sin 75without my intense concern?

30If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my 76weakness. 31The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, 77He who is blessed forever, 78knows that I am not lying. 32In 79Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was 80guarding the city of the Damascenes in order to seize me, 33and I was let down in a basket 81through a window 82in the wall, and so escaped his hands.
