Philippians 4

Think of Excellence

1Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, 1whom I 2long to see, my joy and crown, 3stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.

2I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to 45live in harmony in the Lord. 3Indeed, true 6companion, I ask you also, help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement as well as the rest of my 7fellow workers, whose 8names are in the book of life.

49Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. 10The Lord is 11near. 612Do not 13be anxious about anything, but in everything by 14prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And 15the peace of God, which surpasses all 16comprehension, will 17guard your hearts and 18minds in 19Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers and sisters, 20whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is 21lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen 22in me, practice these things, and 23the God of peace will be with you.

God’s Provisions

10But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last 24you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked an opportunity to act. 11Not that I speak 25from need, for I have learned to be 2627content in whatever circumstances I am. 12I know how to get along with little, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going 28hungry, both of having abundance and 29suffering need. 13I can do all things 30through Him who 31strengthens me. 14Nevertheless, you have done well to 32share with me in my difficulty.

15You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the 3334first preaching of the gospel, after I left 35Macedonia, no church 36shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone; 16for even in 37Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. 1738Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek the 39profit which increases to your account. 18But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am 40amply supplied, having received from 41Epaphroditus 42what you have sent, 4344a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19And 45my God will supply 46all your needs according to His 47riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20Now to 48our God and Father 49be the glory 50forever and ever. Amen.

21Greet every 51saint in Christ Jesus. 52The brothers who are with me greet you. 2253All the 5455saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.

2356The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ 57be with your spirit.
