1 John 4:16-21

16 1We have come to know and have believed the love which God has 2 3for us. 4God is love, and the one who 5remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

17By this, 6love is perfected with us, so that we may have 7confidence in 8the day of judgment; because 9as He is, we also are in this world.

18There is no fear in love, but 10perfect love drives out fear, because fear 11involves punishment, and the one who fears is not 12perfected in love.

19 13We love, because He first loved us.

20 14If someone says, “I love God,” and yet he 15hates his brother or sister, he is a 16liar; for 17the one who does not love his brother and sister whom he has seen, 18cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

21And 19this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God 20must also love his brother and sister.
