1 John 3:6-24

6No one who remains in Him 1sins continually; no one who sins continually has seen Him or 2 3knows Him. 7 4Little children, make sure no one 5deceives you; 6the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8the one who practices sin is 7of the devil; for the devil 8has been sinning from the beginning. 9The Son of God 10appeared for this purpose, 11to destroy the works of the devil. 9No one who has been 12born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. 10By this the 13children of God and the 14children of the devil are obvious: 15anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who 16does not love his 17brother and sister.

11 18For this is the message 19which you have heard from the beginning, 20that we are to love one another; 12not as 21Cain, who was of 22the evil one and murdered his brother. And for what reason did he murder him? Because 23his own deeds were evil, but his brother’s were righteous.

13Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if 24the world hates you. 14We know that we have 25passed out of death into life, 26because we love the brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death. 15Everyone who 27hates his brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that 28no murderer has eternal life remaining in him. 16We know love by this, that 29He laid down His life for us; and 30we ought to lay down our lives for the 31brothers and sisters. 17But 32whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and 33closes his 34heart 35against him, 36how does the love of God remain in him? 18 37Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and 38truth. 19We will know by this that we are 39of the truth, and will set our heart at ease before Him, 20that if our heart condemns us, that God is greater than our heart, and He knows all things. 21 40Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have 41confidence 42before God; 22and 43whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we 44keep His commandments and do 45the things that are pleasing in His sight.

23This is His commandment, that we 46 47believe in 48the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as 49He 50commanded us. 24The one who 51keeps His commandments 52remains in Him, and He in him. 53We know by this that 54He remains in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
