Joshua 10:1-11
1Now it cameH1961 about when Adoni-zedekH139 kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389 heardH8085 that JoshuaH3091 had capturedH3920 AiH5857, and had 1utterlyH2763 destroyedH2763 it (justH3512 2as he had doneH6213 to JerichoH3405 and its kingH4428, soH3651 he had doneH6213 to AiH5857 and its kingH4428), and that the inhabitantsH3427 of GibeonH1391 had 3madeH7999 peaceH7999 with IsraelH3478 and were 4withinH7130 their landH7130, 2that 5he 6fearedH3372 greatlyH3966, becauseH3588 GibeonH1391 was a greatH1419 cityH5892, like oneH259 of the royalH4467 citiesH5892, and becauseH3588 it was greaterH1419 thanH4480 AiH5857, and allH3605 its menH376 were mightyH1368. 3Therefore Adoni-zedekH139 kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389 sentH7971 word 7to HohamH1944 kingH4428 of HebronH2275 and to PiramH6502 kingH4428 of JarmuthH3412 and to JaphiaH3309 kingH4428 of LachishH3923 and to DebirH1688 kingH4428 of EglonH5700, sayingH559, 4“ComeH5927 up to me and helpH5826 me, and let us 8attackH5221 GibeonH1391, for it has 9madeH7999 peaceH7999 with JoshuaH3091 and with the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478.” 5So the fiveH2568 kingsH4428 of 10the AmoritesH567, the kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389, the kingH4428 of HebronH2275, the kingH4428 of JarmuthH3412, the kingH4428 of LachishH3923, and the kingH4428 of EglonH5700, gatheredH622 together and wentH5927 up, they with allH3605 their armiesH4264, and campedH2583 by GibeonH1391 and foughtH3898 againstH5921 it.
6Then the menH376 of GibeonH1391 sentH7971 word to JoshuaH3091 to the campH4264 at GilgalH1537, sayingH559, “Do not 11abandonH7503H3027H4480 your servantsH5650; comeH5927 up to us quicklyH4120 and saveH3467 us and helpH5826 us, for allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the AmoritesH567 that liveH3427 in the hillH2022 countryH2022 have assembledH6908 againstH413 us.” 7So JoshuaH3091 wentH5927 up from GilgalH1537, he and 12allH3605 the peopleH5971 of warH4421 with him and allH3605 the valiantH2428 warriorsH1368. 8The LordH3068 saidH559 to JoshuaH3091, “13Do not fearH3372 them, for I have givenH5414 them into your handsH3027; not 14oneH376 of them shall standH5975 beforeH6440 you.” 9So JoshuaH3091 cameH935 upon them suddenlyH6597 15by marchingH5927 allH3605 nightH3915 from GilgalH1537. 1016And the LordH3068 confoundedH2000 them beforeH6440 IsraelH3478, and He 17slewH5221 them with a greatH1419 slaughterH4347 at GibeonH1391, and pursuedH7291 them by the wayH1870 of the ascentH4608 of Beth-horonH1032 and struckH5221 them as farH5704 as AzekahH5825 and MakkedahH4719. 11As they fledH5127 from beforeH4480H6440 IsraelH3478, while they were at the descentH4174 of Beth-horonH1032, 18the LordH3068 threwH7993 largeH1419 stonesH68 from heavenH8064 on them as farH5704 as AzekahH5825, and they diedH4191; there were moreH7227 whoH834 diedH4191 19from the hailstonesH1259H68 thanH4480 those whomH834 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 killedH2026 with the swordH2719.
