The Song of Moses and Israel

11Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song to the Lord, 2and said, “34I will sing to the Lord, for He 5is highly exalted; 6The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea.278The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; 9This is my God, and I will praise Him; 10My father’s God, and I will 11extol Him.312The Lord is a warrior; 1314The Lord is His name.415Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; And the choicest of his officers are 16drowned in the 17Red Sea.5The deeps cover them; 18They went down into the depths like a stone.619Your right hand, O Lord, is majestic in power, 20Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.7And in the greatness of Your 21excellence You 22overthrow those who rise up against You; 23You send forth Your burning anger, and it 24consumes them as chaff.825At the blast of Your nostrils the waters were piled up, 26The flowing waters stood up like a heap; The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea.927The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will 28divide the spoil; My 29desire shall be 30gratified against them; I will draw out my sword, my hand will 31destroy them.’1032You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them; 33They sank like lead in the 34mighty waters.1135Who is like You among the gods, O Lord? Who is like You, 36majestic in holiness, 37Awesome in praises, 38working wonders?1239You stretched out Your right hand, The earth swallowed them.13In Your lovingkindness You have 40led the people whom You have 41redeemed; In Your strength You have guided them 42to Your holy habitation.1443The peoples have heard, they tremble; Anguish has gripped the inhabitants of Philistia.15Then the 44chiefs of Edom were dismayed; 45The leaders of Moab, trembling grips them; 46All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.1647Terror and dread fall upon them; 48By the greatness of Your arm they are motionless as stone; Until Your people pass over, O Lord, Until the people pass over whom You 49have purchased.1750You will bring them and 51plant them in 52the mountain of Your inheritance, 53The place, O Lord, which You have made for Your dwelling, 54The sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.1855The Lord shall reign forever and ever.”

1956For the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, and the Lord brought back the waters of the sea on them, but the sons of Israel walked on 57dry land through the midst of the sea.

2058Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took the 59timbrel in her hand, and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with 6061dancing. 21Miriam answered them, “62Sing to the Lord, for He 63is highly exalted; The horse and his rider He has hurled into the sea.”

The Lord Provides Water

2264Then Moses 65led Israel from the 66Red Sea, and they went out into 67the wilderness of 68Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23When they came to 69Marah, they could not drink the waters 70of Marah, for they were 71bitter; therefore it was named 72Marah. 24So the people 73grumbled at Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25Then he 74cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him 75a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet.

There He 76made for them a statute and regulation, and there He 77tested them. 26And He said, “78If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear 79to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, 80I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, 81the Lord, am your healer.”

27Then they came to 82Elim where there were twelve springs of water and seventy date palms, and they camped there beside the waters.
