1 Chronicles 28:1-10
1Now 1DavidH1732 assembledH6950 at JerusalemH3389 allH3605 the officialsH8269 of IsraelH3478, the princesH8269 of the tribesH7626, and the commandersH8269 of the divisionsH4256 that servedH8334 the kingH4428, and the commandersH8269 of thousandsH505, and the commandersH8269 of hundredsH3967, and the overseersH8269 of allH3605 the propertyH7399 and livestockH4735 belonging to the kingH4428 and his sonsH1121, with the officialsH5631 and 2the mightyH1368 menH1368, even allH3605 the valiantH2428 menH1368. 2Then KingH4428 DavidH1732 roseH6965 to his feetH7272 and saidH559, “ListenH8085 to me, my brethrenH251 and my peopleH5971; I 3had 4intendedH3824 to buildH1129 a 5permanentH4496 homeH1004 for the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LordH3068 and for 6the footstoolH1916H7272 of our GodH430. So I had madeH3559 preparationsH3559 to buildH1129 it. 3But GodH430 saidH559 to me, ‘7You shall not buildH1129 a houseH1004 for My nameH8034 becauseH3588 you are a manH376 of warH4421 and have shedH8210 bloodH1818.’ 4Yet, the LordH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, 8choseH977 me from allH3605 the houseH1004 of my fatherH1 to be kingH4428 overH5921 IsraelH3478 9foreverH5769. For 10He has chosenH977 JudahH3063 to be a leaderH5057; and 11in the houseH1004 of JudahH3063, my father’sH1 houseH1004, and among the sonsH1121 of my fatherH1 He tookH7521 pleasureH7521 in me to makeH4427 me kingH4427 overH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478. 512Of allH3605 my sonsH1121 (for the LordH3068 has givenH5414 me manyH7227 sonsH1121), 13He has chosenH977 my sonH1121 SolomonH8010 to sitH3427 on the throneH3678 of the kingdomH4438 of the LordH3068 overH5921 IsraelH3478. 6He saidH559 to me, ‘Your sonH1121 14SolomonH8010 is the one whoH1931 shall buildH1129 My houseH1004 and My courtsH2691; for I have chosenH977 him to be a sonH1121 to Me, and I will be a fatherH1 to him. 7I will establishH3559 his kingdomH4438 foreverH5704H5769 15ifH518 he resolutelyH2388 performsH6213 My commandmentsH4687 and My ordinancesH4941, as 16is done nowH3117.’ 8So nowH6258, in the sightH5869 of allH3605 IsraelH3478, the assemblyH6951 of the LordH3068, and in the hearingH241 of our GodH430, observeH8104 and seekH1875 afterH1875 allH3605 the commandmentsH4687 of the LordH3068 your GodH430 soH4616 that you may possessH5157 the goodH2896 landH776 and bequeathH5157 it to your sonsH1121 afterH310 you foreverH5704H5769.
9“As for you, my sonH1121 SolomonH8010, knowH3045 the GodH430 of your fatherH1, and 17serveH5647 Him with 18a wholeH8003 heartH3820 and a willingH2655 19mindH5315; 20for the LordH3068 searchesH1875 allH3605 heartsH3824, and understandsH995 everyH3605 intentH3336 of the thoughtsH4284. 21IfH518 you seekH1875 Him, He will let you findH4672 Him; but ifH518 you forsakeH5800 Him, He will rejectH2186 you foreverH5703. 10ConsiderH7200 nowH6258, for the LordH3068 has chosenH977 you to buildH1129 a houseH1004 for the sanctuaryH4720; 22be courageousH2388 and actH6213.”
