7And He beganspeakingἜλεγενElegenG3004a parableπαραβολὴνparabolēnG3850to the invitedκεκλημένουςkeklēmenousG2564guestsG2564when He noticedἐπέχωνepechōnG1907howπῶςpōsG4459they had been pickingἐξελέγοντο,exelegontoG1586out the placesG4411of honorG4411at the table,sayingλέγωνlegōnG3004to them,

8“WhenὅτανhotanG3752you are invitedκληθῇςklēthēasG2564by someoneτινοςtinosG5100to a weddingγάμους,gamousG1062feastG1062, do nottakeκατακλιθῇςkataklithēasG2625the placeπρωτοκλισίαν,prōtoklisianG4411of honorG4411,for someone moreG1784distinguishedG1784than you may have beenᾖēG1510invitedκεκλημένοςkeklēmenosG2564by him,

9and he who invitedκαλέσαςkalesasG2564you bothαὐτὸνautonG2532 G846will comeἐλθὼνelthōnG2064and sayG3004to you, ‘GiveδὸςdosG1325yourplaceτόπον.toponG5117to thisG3778manG3778,’and thenτότεtoteG5119in disgraceαἰσχύνηςaischunēsG152youproceedἄρξῃarxēG757to occupyκατέχειν.katecheinG2722the lastἔσχατονeschatonG2078placeτόπονtoponG5117.

10But whenὅτανhotanG3752you are invitedκληθῇς,klēthēasG2564,goπορευθεὶςporeutheisG4198and reclineἀνάπεσεanapeseG377at the lastἔσχατονeschatonG2078placeτόπον,toponG5117,soἵναinaG2443that whenὅτανhotanG3752the one who has invitedκεκληκώςkeklēkōsG2564you comesἔλθῃelthēG2064,he may sayG3004to you, ‘Friendφίλε,phileG5384,moveπροσανάβηθιprosanabēthiG4320up higherἀνώτερον.anōteronG511’;thenτότεtoteG5119you will have honorδόξαdoxaG1391in the sightἐνώπιονenōpionG1799of allπάντωνpantōnG3956whoare at the tableσυνανακειμένωνsunanakeimenōnG4873with you.

11For everyoneπᾶςpasG3956who exaltsὑψῶνhupsōnG5312himselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438will be humbledταπεινωθήσεται,tapeinōthēsetaiG5013,and he who humblesταπεινῶνtapeinōnG5013himselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438will be exaltedὑψωθήσεται.¶hupsōthēsetaiG5312.”
