19Then the menH376of the cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892saidוַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559to Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477, “Beholdהִנֵּה־hi.neh-H2009now, the situationמוֹשַׁ֤בmo.ShavH4186of this cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892is pleasantט֔וֹבTovH2896,as my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113seesרֹאֶ֑הro.'EhH7200;but the waterוְהַמַּ֥יִםve.ha.Ma.yimH4325is badרָעִ֖יםra.'ImH7451and the landוְהָאָ֥רֶץve.ha.'A.retzH776is unfruitfulמְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃me.sha.Ka.letH7921.”

20He saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Bringקְחוּ־ke.chu-H3947me a newחֲדָשָׁ֔הcha.da.ShahH2319jarצְלֹחִ֣יתtze.lo.ChitH6746,and putוְשִׂ֥ימוּve.Si.muH7760saltמֶ֑לַחMe.lachH4417in it.” So they broughtוַיִּקְח֖וּvai.yik.ChuH3947it to him.

21He wentוַיֵּצֵא֙vai.ye.Tze'H3318out to the springמוֹצָ֣אmo.Tza'H4161of waterהַמַּ֔יִםha.Ma.yimH4325andthrewוַיַּשְׁלֶךְ־vai.yash.lekh-H7993saltמֶ֑לַחMe.lachH4417in it and saidוַיֹּ֜אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068, ‘I havepurifiedרִפִּ֙אתִי֙ri.Pi.tiH7495theseהָאֵ֔לֶּהha.'E.lehH428watersלַמַּ֣יִםla.Ma.yimH4325;there shall not be from thereH8033deathמָ֥וֶתMa.vetH4194orunfruitfulnessוּמְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃u.me.sha.Ka.letH7921anyH5750longerH5750.’”

22So the watersהַמַּ֔יִםha.Ma.yimH4325have beenpurifiedוַיֵּרָפ֣וּvai.ye.ra.FuH7495to thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117,according to the wordכִּדְבַ֥רkid.VarH1697of Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֖ע'e.li.Sha'H477whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he spokeדִּבֵּֽר׃ פdi.BerH1696.

23Then he wentוַיַּ֥עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927up from thereמִשָּׁ֖םmi.ShamH8033to BethelH1008;and as he was goingעֹלֶ֣ה'o.LehH5927up by the wayבַדֶּ֗רֶךְva.De.rekhH1870,youngקְטַנִּים֙ke.ta.NimH6996ladsוּנְעָרִ֤יםu.ne.'a.RimH5288cameיָצְא֣וּya.tze.'UH3318out from the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892andmockedוַיִּתְקַלְּסוּ־vai.yit.ka.le.su-H7046him and saidוַיֹּ֣אמְרוּvai.Yo.me.ruH559to him, “Goעֲלֵ֥ה'a.LehH5927up, you baldheadקֵרֵ֖חַke.Re.achH7142;goעֲלֵ֥ה'a.LehH5927up, you baldheadקֵרֵֽחַ׃ke.Re.achH7142!”

24When he lookedוַיִּ֤פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437behindאַֽחֲרָיו֙'a.cha.RavH310him and sawוַיִּרְאֵ֔םvai.yir.'EmH7200them, hecursedוַֽיְקַלְלֵ֖םvay.ka.LemH7043them in the nameבְּשֵׁ֣םbe.ShemH8034of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.Then twoשְׁתַּ֤יִםshe.Ta.yimH8147female bearsדֻּבִּים֙du.BimH1677cameוַתֵּצֶ֨אנָהva.te.Tze.nahH3318out of the woodsהַיַּ֔עַרhai.Ya.'arH3293and toreוַתְּבַקַּ֣עְנָהva.te.va.Ka'.nahH1234up forty-twoאַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁנֵ֖י'ar.ba.'Im u.she.NeiH705 H8147ladsיְלָדִֽים׃ye.la.DimH3206of their number.

25He wentוַיֵּ֥לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980from thereמִשָּׁ֖םmi.ShamH8033toMountהַ֣רharH2022Carmelהַכַּרְמֶ֑לha.kar.MelH3760,and from thereוּמִשָּׁ֖םu.mi.ShamH8033he returnedשָׁ֥בshavH7725to Samariaשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ פsho.me.RonH8111.
