2He was twenty-fiveעֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְחָמֵ֤שׁ'es.Rim ve.cha.MeshH6242H2568yearsשָׁנָה֙sha.NahH8141oldבֶּן־ben-H1121when he becameH4427kingבְמָלְכ֔וֹve.ma.le.KhoH4427,and he reignedמָלַ֖ךְma.LakhH4427twenty-nineוְעֶשְׂרִ֤ים וָתֵ֙שַׁע֙ve.'es.Rim va.Te.sha'H6242H8672yearsשָׁנָ֔הsha.NahH8141in Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389.And his mother’sאִמּ֔וֹ'i.MoH517nameוְשֵׁ֣םve.ShemH8034was Jehoaddinיְהֽוֹעַדָּ֖ןye.ho.'a.dinH3086of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389.
3He didוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213rightהַיָּשָׁר֙hai.ya.SharH3477in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֣יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,yetH7534not like Davidכְּדָוִ֣דke.da.VidH1732his fatherאָבִ֑יו'a.VivH1;he didעָשָׂ֛ה'a.SahH6213according to allכְּכֹ֧לke.KholH3605that JoashH3060his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1hadH7355doneעָשָֽׂה׃'a.SahH6213.
5Now it cameוַיְהִ֕יvay.HiH1961about, as soonH3512as the kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָ֖הha.mam.la.KhahH4467was firmlyחָזְקָ֥הcha.ze.KahH2388in his handבְּיָד֑וֹbe.ya.DoH3027, that hekilledוַיַּךְ֙vai.yaKhH5221his servantsעֲבָדָ֔יו'a.va.DavH5650who had slainהַמַּכִּ֖יםha.ma.KimH5221the kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428his fatherאָבִֽיו׃'a.VivH1.
6But the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of theslayersהַמַּכִּ֖יםha.ma.KimH5221he did not putהֵמִ֑יתhe.MitH4191to deathיוּמְת֨וּyu.me.TuH4191,according to what is writtenכַּכָּת֣וּבka.ka.TuvH3789in the bookבְּסֵ֣פֶרbe.Se.ferH5612of the Lawתּֽוֹרַת־to.rat-H8451of Mosesמֹ֠שֶׁהMo.shehH4872,as the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068commandedצִוָּ֨הtzi.VahH6680,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “The fathersאָב֤וֹת'a.VotH1shall not be putיוּמְת֣וּyu.me.TuH4191to deathיוּמָֽת׃ya.mutH4191for the sonsבָּנִים֙ba.NimH1121,norH3808the sonsוּבָנִים֙u.va.NimH1121be putH4191to deathH4191for the fathersאָב֔וֹת'a.VotH1; buteachאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376shall be putH4191to deathH4191for his own sinבְּחֶטְא֖וֹbe.chet.'OH2399.”
7Hekilledהִכָּ֨הhi.KahH5221ofEdomH112inthe Valleyבְּגֵיא־be.gei'-H1516of Saltמֶ֙לַח֙me.lachH441710,000עֲשֶׂ֣רֶת אֲלָפִ֔ים'a.Se.ret 'a.la.FimH6235H505and tookוְתָפַ֥שׂve.ta.FasH8610Selaהַסֶּ֖לַעha.Se.la'H5554by warבַּמִּלְחָמָ֑הba.mil.cha.MahH4421,and namedוַיִּקְרָ֤א שְׁמָהּ֙vai.yik.Ra' she.MahH7121H8034itJoktheelיָקְתְאֵ֔לya.ke.te.'ElH3371to thisהַזֶּֽה׃ פha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.
8Thenאָ֣ז'azH227Amaziahאֲמַצְיָה֙'a.matz.YahH558sentשָׁלַ֤חsha.LachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִ֔יםmal.'a.KhimH4397to Jehoashיְהוֹאָ֨שׁye.ho.'AshH3060,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָ֧זye.ho.'a.ChazH3059sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehuיֵה֛וּאye.Hu'H3058,kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Comeלְכָ֖הle.KhahH1980,let us faceנִתְרָאֶ֥ה פָנִֽים׃nit.ra.'Eh fa.NimH7200H6440each other.”

10You have indeedהַכֵּ֤הha.KehH5221defeatedהִכִּ֙יתָ֙hi.Ki.taH5221EdomH112, andyour heartלִבֶּ֑ךָli.Be.khaH3820hasbecomeH5375proudH5375.EnjoyH3513your gloryH3513and stayוְשֵׁ֣בve.ShevH3427at homeבְּבֵיתֶ֔ךָbe.vei.Te.khaH1004;for whyוְלָ֤מָּהve.La.mahH4100should you provokeתִתְגָּרֶה֙tit.ga.RehH1624troubleH7463so that you, even you, would fallוְנָ֣פַלְתָּ֔הve.Na.fal.TahH5307,and Judahוִיהוּדָ֥הvi.hu.DahH3063with you?”
11But Amaziahאֲמַצְיָ֔הוּ'a.matz.Ya.huH558would not listenשָׁמַ֣עsha.Ma'H8085.So Jehoashיְהוֹאָ֤שׁye.ho.'AshH3060kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478wentוַיַּ֨עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927up; and he and Amaziahוַאֲמַצְיָ֣הוּva.'a.matz.Ya.huH558kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063facedוַיִּתְרָא֣וּ פָנִ֔יםvai.yit.ra.'U fa.NimH7200H6440each other atBeth-shemeshH1053,whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834belongs to Judahלִיהוּדָֽה׃li.hu.DahH3063.
