9And Jehoahazיְהֽוֹאָחָז֙ye.ho.'a.ChazH3059sleptוַיִּשְׁכַּ֤בvai.yish.KavH7901with his fathersאֲבֹתָ֔יו'a.vo.TavH1,and they buriedוַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֖הוּvai.yik.be.Ru.huH6912him in Samariaבְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹןbe.sho.me.RonH8111;and JoashH3060his sonבְּנ֖וֹbe.NoH1121becameH4427kingוַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427in his placeתַּחְתָּֽיו׃ פtach.TavH8478.

10In the thirty-seventhשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וָשֶׁ֙בַע֙she.lo.Shim va.She.va'H7970 H7651yearH8141of JoashH3060kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063,Jehoashיְהוֹאָ֨שׁye.ho.'AshH3060the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָ֤זye.ho.'a.ChazH3059becameH4427kingמָ֠לַךְMa.lakhH4427overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478in Samariaבְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןbe.Sho.me.RonH8111, and reignedsixteenשֵׁ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖הshesh 'es.RehH8337 H6240yearsH8141.

11He didוַיַּֽעֲשֶׂ֥הvai.ya.'a.SehH6213evilהָרַ֖עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֣יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068;he did not turnסָ֗רSarH5493awayH5493from allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605the sinsחַטֹּ֞אותcha.TotH2403of Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֧םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֛טne.VatH5028,with whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he made Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478sinהֶחֱטִ֥יאhe.che.Ti'H2398,but he walkedהָלָֽךְ׃ha.LakhH1980in them.

13So JoashH3060sleptוַיִּשְׁכַּ֤בvai.yish.KavH7901with his fathersאֲבֹתָ֔יו'a.vo.TavH1,and Jeroboamוְיָרָבְעָ֖םve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379satיָשַׁ֣בya.ShavH3427on his throneכִּסְא֑וֹkis.'OH3678;and JoashH3060was buriedוַיִּקָּבֵ֤רvai.yi.ka.VerH6912in Samariaבְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןbe.Sho.me.RonH8111with the kingsמַלְכֵ֥יmal.KheiH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פYis.ra.'ElH3478.

14When Elishaוֶֽאֱלִישָׁע֙ve.'e.li.Sha'H477becameH2470sickחָלָ֣הcha.LahH2470with the illnessחָלְי֔וֹchal.YoH2483of whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he was to dieיָמ֖וּתya.MutH4191,JoashH3060the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478cameH3381downוַיֵּ֨רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381to him and weptוַיֵּ֤בְךְּvai.Ye.vekH1058overעַל־'al-H5921him and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559, “My fatherאָבִ֣י׀'a.ViH1,my fatherאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1,the chariotsרֶ֥כֶבRe.khevH7393of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478and its horsemenוּפָרָשָֽׁיו׃u.fa.ra.ShavH6571!”

15Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Takeקַ֖חkachH3947a bowקֶ֣שֶׁתKe.shetH7198and arrowsוְחִצִּ֑יםve.chi.TzimH2671.” So hetookוַיִּקַּ֥חvai.yi.KachH3947a bowקֶ֥שֶׁתKe.shetH7198and arrowsוְחִצִּֽים׃ve.chi.TzimH2671.

16Then he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559to the kingלְמֶ֣לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “Putהַרְכֵּ֤בhar.KevH7392your handיָֽדְךָ֙ya.de.KhaH3027on the bowהַקֶּ֔שֶׁתha.Ke.shetH7198.”And he putוַיַּרְכֵּ֖בvai.yar.KevH7392his handיָד֑וֹya.DoH3027on it,then Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֛ע'e.li.Sha'H477laidוַיָּ֧שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760his handsיָדָ֖יוya.DavH3027on the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428handsיְדֵ֥יye.DeiH3027.

17He saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Openפְּתַ֧חpe.TachH6605the windowהַחַלּ֛וֹןha.cha.LonH2474toward the eastקֵ֖דְמָהKe.de.mahH6924,”and he openedוַיִּפְתָּ֑חvai.yif.TachH6605it.Then Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֤ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Shootיְרֵה֙ye.RehH3384!”And he shotוַיּ֔וֹרvai.YorH3384.And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “The Lord’sלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068arrowחֵץ־chetz-H2671of victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֤הte.shu.'AhH8668,even the arrowוְחֵ֣ץve.ChetzH2671of victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֣הte.shu.'AhH8668over Aramבַֽאֲרָ֔םva.'a.RamH758; for you willdefeatוְהִכִּיתָ֧ve.hi.ki.TaH5221the Arameansאֲרָ֛ם'a.RamH758atAphekבַּאֲפֵ֖קba.'a.FekH663untilעַד־'ad-H5704you havedestroyedכַּלֵּֽה׃ka.LehH3615them.”

18Then he saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Takeקַ֥חkachH3947the arrowsהַחִצִּ֖יםha.chi.TzimH2671,”and he tookוַיִּקָּ֑חvai.yi.KachH3947them. And he saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the kingלְמֶֽלֶךְ־le.Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478, “Strikeהַךְ־hakh-H5221the groundאַ֔רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776,”and he struckוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221itthreeשָֽׁלֹשׁ־sha.losh-H7969timesפְּעָמִ֖יםpe.'a.MimH6471andstoppedוַֽיַּעֲמֹֽד׃Vai.ya.'a.ModH5975.

19Sothe manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֗יםha.'E.lo.HimH430was angryוַיִּקְצֹ֨ףvai.yik.TzofH7107with him and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “You should have struckלְהַכּ֨וֹתle.ha.KotH5221fiveחָמֵ֤שׁcha.MeshH2568orאוֹ־'ov-H176sixשֵׁשׁ֙sheshH8337timesפְּעָמִ֔יםpe.'a.MimH6471,thenאָ֛ז'azH227you would have struckהִכִּ֥יתָhi.Ki.taH5221Aramאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758untilעַד־'ad-H5704you would havedestroyedכַּלֵּ֑הka.LehH3615it.But nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258you shall strikeתַּכֶּ֥הta.KehH5221Aramאֲרָֽם׃ ס'a.RamH758onlythreeשָׁלֹ֥שׁsha.LoshH7969timesפְּעָמִ֖יםpe.'a.MimH6471.”

20Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֖ע'e.li.Sha'H477diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191,and they buriedוַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֑הוּvai.yik.be.Ru.huH6912him. Nowthe bandsוּגְדוּדֵ֥יu.ge.du.DeiH1416of the Moabitesמוֹאָ֛בmo.'AvH4124would invadeיָבֹ֥אוּya.Vo.'uH935the landבָאָ֖רֶץva.'A.retzH776in the springבָּ֥אba'H935of the yearשָׁנָֽה׃sha.NahH8141.

21As they were buryingקֹבְרִ֣יםkoe.RimH6912a manאִ֗ישׁ'IshH376,beholdוְהִנֵּה֙ve.hi.NehH2009,they sawרָא֣וּra.'UH7200a maraudingהַגְּד֔וּדha.ge.DudH1416bandH1416;and they castוַיַּשְׁלִ֥יכוּvai.yash.Li.khuH7993the manהָאִ֖ישׁha.'IshH376into the graveבְּקֶ֣בֶרbe.Ke.verH6913of Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֑ע'e.li.Sha'H477.And when the manהָאִישׁ֙ha.'IshH376touchedוַיִּגַּ֤עvai.yi.Ga'H5060the bonesבְּעַצְמ֣וֹתbe.'atz.MotH6106of Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477herevivedוַיְחִ֖יvay.ChiH2421and stoodוַיָּ֥קָםvai.Ya.komH6965up on his feetרַגְלָֽיו׃ פrag.LavH7272.

22NowHazaelוַֽחֲזָאֵל֙va.cha.za.'ElH2371kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aramאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758had oppressedלָחַ֖ץla.ChatzH3905Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478allכֹּ֖לkolH3605the daysיְמֵ֥יye.MeiH3117of Jehoahazיְהוֹאָחָֽז׃ye.ho.'a.ChazH3059.

23But theLordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068was graciousוַיָּחָן֩vai.ya.ChanH2603to them andhadH7355compassionוַֽיְרַחֲמֵם֙vay.ra.cha.MemH7355on them and turnedוַיִּ֣פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437to them becauseלְמַ֣עַןle.Ma.'anH4616ofHis covenantבְּרִית֔וֹbe.ri.ToH1285with Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֖ם'av.ra.HamH85,Isaacיִצְחָ֣קyitz.ChakH3327,and Jacobוְיַֽעֲקֹ֑בve.ya.'a.KoH3290,and wouldאָבָה֙'a.VahH14not destroyהַשְׁחִיתָ֔םhash.chi.TamH7843them or castהִשְׁלִיכָ֥םhish.li.KhamH7993them from His presenceפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440untilעַד־'ad-H5704nowעָֽתָּה׃'A.tahH6258.
