9Then the kingsentוַיִּשְׁלַ֥חvai.yish.LachH7971to him a captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֖יםcha.mi.ShimH2572with his fiftyוַחֲמִשָּׁ֑יוva.cha.mi.ShavH2572.And he wentוַיַּ֣עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927up to him, and beholdוְהִנֵּה֙ve.hi.NehH2009,he was sittingיֹשֵׁב֙yo.ShevH3427on the topרֹ֣אשׁroshH7218of the hillהָהָ֔רha.HarH2022.And he saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to him, “O manאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,the kingהַמֶּ֥לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saysדִּבֶּ֖רdi.BerH1696, ‘Comeרֵֽדָה׃Re.dahH3381downH3381.’”

10Elijahאֵלִיָּ֗הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452repliedוַיַּעֲנֶ֣הvai.ya.'a.NehH6030to the captainשַׂ֣רsarH8269of fiftyהַחֲמִשִּׁים֒ha.cha.mi.ShimH2572, “Ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518I am a manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376of Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430,let fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784comeתֵּ֤רֶדTe.redH3381downH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumeוְתֹאכַ֥לve.to.KhalH398you and your fiftyחֲמִשֶּׁ֑יךָcha.mi.Shei.khaH2572.”Then fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784cameH3381downוַתֵּ֤רֶדva.Te.redH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumedוַתֹּ֥אכַלva.To.khalH398him and his fiftyחֲמִשָּֽׁיו׃cha.mi.ShavH2572.

11So he againוַיָּ֜שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֥חvai.yish.LachH7971to him anotherאַחֵ֖ר'a.CherH312captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֥יםcha.mi.ShimH2572with his fiftyוַחֲמִשָּׁ֑יוva.cha.mi.ShavH2572.And he saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to him, “O manאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, ‘Comeרֵֽדָה׃Re.dahH3381downH3381quicklyמְהֵרָ֥הme.he.RahH4120.’”

13So heagainוַיָּ֗שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֛חvai.yish.LachH7971the captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of a thirdשְׁלִשִׁ֖יםshe.li.ShimH7992fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֥יםcha.mi.ShimH2572with his fiftyוַחֲמִשָּׁ֑יוva.cha.mi.ShavH2572.When the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֜יha.she.li.ShiH7992captainשַׂר־sar-H8269of fiftyהַחֲמִשִּׁ֨יםha.cha.mi.ShimH2572wentוַיַּ֡עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927up, he cameוַיָּבֹא֩vai.ya.Vo'H935and bowedH3766downוַיִּכְרַ֥עvai.yikh.Ra'H3766on his kneesבִּרְכָּ֣יו׀bir.KavH1290beforeלְנֶ֣גֶדle.Ne.gedH5048Elijahאֵלִיָּ֗הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452,and beggedוַיִּתְחַנֵּ֤ןvai.yit.cha.NenH2603him and saidוַיְדַבֵּ֣רvay.da.BerH1696to him, “O manאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,pleaseנָ֣אna'H4994let my lifeנַפְשִׁ֗יnaf.ShiH5315and the livesוְנֶ֨פֶשׁve.Ne.feshH5315of theseאֵ֛לֶּה'E.lehH428fiftyחֲמִשִּׁ֖יםcha.mi.ShimH2572servantsעֲבָדֶ֥יךָֽ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650of yours be preciousתִּֽיקַר־ti.kar-H3365in your sightבְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃be.'ei.Nei.khaH5869.

14Beholdהִ֠נֵּהHi.nehH2009fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784cameיָ֤רְדָהYa.re.dahH3381downH3381from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֔יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and consumedוַ֠תֹּאכַלVa.to.khalH398the firstהָרִאשֹׁנִ֖יםha.ri.sho.NimH7223twoשְׁנֵ֞יshe.NeiH8147captainsשָׂרֵ֧יsa.ReiH8269of fiftyהַחֲמִשִּׁ֛יםha.cha.mi.ShimH2572with their fiftiesחֲמִשֵּׁיהֶ֑םcha.mi.shei.HemH2572;but nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258let mylifeנַפְשִׁ֖יnaf.ShiH5315be preciousתִּיקַ֥רti.KarH3365in your sightבְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ סbe.'ei.Nei.khaH5869.”

15The angelמַלְאַ֤ךְmal.'AkhH4397of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיְדַבֵּ֞רvay.da.BerH1696to Elijahאֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452, “Goרֵ֣דredH3381downH3381with him;do not be afraidתִּירָ֖אti.Ra'H3372of him.” So he aroseוַיָּ֛קָםvai.Ya.komH6965and wentH3381downוַיֵּ֥רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381with him to the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.

16Then he saidוַיְדַבֵּ֨רvay.da.BerH1696to him, “Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068, ‘Becauseיַ֜עַן אֲשֶׁר־Ya.'an 'a.Sher-H3282 H834you have sentשָׁלַ֣חְתָּsha.Lach.taH7971messengersמַלְאָכִים֮mal.'a.KhimH4397to inquireלִדְרֹשׁ֮lid.RoshH1875of Baal-zebubH1176,the godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Ekronעֶקְרוֹן֒'ek.rOnH6138--is it becauseהַֽמִבְּלִ֤י מִמֶּ֖נָּהha.mi.be.Li mi.Me.nahH4480 H1097thereH369is noH369Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478to inquireלִדְרֹ֖שׁlid.RoshH1875of His wordבִּדְבָר֑וֹbid.va.RoH1697?--thereforeלָ֠כֵןLa.khenH3651you shall not comeתֵרֵ֥דte.RedH3381downH3381from the bedהַמִּטָּ֞הha.mi.TahH4296whereאֲשֶׁר־ שָּׁ֛ם'a.Sher- shamH834 H8033you have goneעָלִ֥יתָ'a.Li.taH5927up, but shall surelyמ֥וֹתMotH4191dieתָּמֽוּת׃ta.MutH4191.’”

17So Ahaziah diedוַיָּ֜מָתvai.Ya.motH4191according to the wordכִּדְבַ֥רkid.VarH1697of the Lordיְהוָ֣ה׀Yah.wehH3068whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834Elijahאֵלִיָּ֗הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452had spokenדִּבֶּ֣רdi.BerH1696.And becauseכִּ֛יkiH3588he hadהָ֥יָהHa.yahH1961noלֹֽא־lo'-H3808sonבֶּן־ben-H1121,Jehoramיְהוֹרָם֙ye.ho.RamH3088becameH4427kingוַיִּמְלֹ֤ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427in his placeתַּחְתָּ֔יו פtach.TavH8478in the secondשְׁתַּ֔יִםshe.Ta.yimH8147yearבִּשְׁנַ֣תbish.NatH8141of Jehoramלִיהוֹרָ֥םli.ho.RamH3088the sonבֵּֽן׃BenH1121of Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֖טye.ho.sha.FatH3092,kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063.
