Revelation 18:8-24
8For this reason 1in one day her plagues will come, 2pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be 3burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her 4is strong.
9“And 5the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and 6lived 7sensuously with her, will 8weep and lament over her when they 9see the smoke of her burning, 1010standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, ‘11Woe, woe, 12the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in 13one hour your judgment has come.’
11“And the 14merchants of the earth 15weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more-- 12cargoes of 16gold and silver and precious 17stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and 18bronze and iron and marble, 13and cinnamon and 19spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and 20slaves and 2122human lives. 14The fruit 23you long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them. 15The 24merchants of 25these things, who became rich from her, will 26stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16saying, ‘27Woe, woe, 28the great city, she who 29was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and 30adorned with gold and precious 31stones and pearls; 17for in 32one hour such great wealth has been laid 33waste!’ And 34every shipmaster and every 35passenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, 36stood at a distance, 18and were 37crying out as they 38saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘39What city is like 40the great city?’ 19And they threw 41dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘42Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea 43became rich by her 44wealth, for in 45one hour she has been laid 46waste!’ 2047Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you 48saints and 49apostles and prophets, because 50God has 51pronounced judgment for you against her.”
21Then 52a 53strong angel 54took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, 55the great city, be thrown down with violence, and 56will not be found any longer. 22And 57the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman of any craft will be found in you any longer; and the 58sound of a mill will not be heard in you any longer; 23and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the 59voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your 60merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived 61by your sorcery. 24And in her was found the 62blood of prophets and of 63saints and of 64all who have been slain on the earth.”
