Judges 1:3-17

Then the men of JudahH3063 saidH559 to their brothersH251 the SimeonitesH8095, “Come upH5927 with usH854 to our allotted territoryH1486, and let us fightH3898 against the CanaanitesH3669. And weH589 likewiseH1571 will goH1980 with youH854 to your territoryH1486.” So the SimeonitesH8095 wentH1980 with themH854.

When JudahH3063 attackedH5927, the LORDH3068 deliveredH5414 the CanaanitesH3669 and PerizzitesH6522 into their handsH3027, and they struck downH5221 tenH6235 thousandH505 menH376 at BezekH966. 5AndH966 there they foundH4672 Adoni-bezekH137 and foughtH3898 against him, striking downH5221 the CanaanitesH3669 and PerizzitesH6522.

As Adoni-bezekH137 fledH5127, they pursued himH7291H310, seized himH270, and cut offH7112 his thumbsH931H3027 and big toesH7272. 7Then Adoni-bezekH137 saidH559, “SeventyH7657 kingsH4428 with their thumbsH931H3027 and big toesH7272 cut offH7112H1961 have gatheredH3950 the scraps underH8478 my tableH7979. AsH834 I have doneH6213 to them, soH3651 GodH430 has repaidH7999 me.” And they brought himH935 to JerusalemH3389, where he diedH4191H8033.

Then the menH1121 of JudahH3063 foughtH3898 against JerusalemH3389 and captured itH3920. They putH5221 the city to the swordH6310H2719 and setH7971 itH5892 on fireH784. 9AfterwardH310, the menH1121 of JudahH3063 marched downH3381 to fightH3898 against the CanaanitesH3669 livingH3427 in the hill countryH2022, in the NegevH5045, and in the foothillsH8219.1

JudahH3063 also marchedH1980 againstH413 the CanaanitesH3669 who were livingH3427 in HebronH2275 (formerlyH6440 known asH8034 Kiriath-arbaH7153), and they struck downH5221 SheshaiH8344, AhimanH289, and TalmaiH8526.

From thereH8033 they marchedH1980 againstH413 the inhabitantsH3427 of DebirH1688 (formerlyH6440 known asH8034 Kiriath-sepherH7158). 12And CalebH3612 saidH559, “To the manH834 who strikes downH5221 Kiriath-sepherH7158 and captures itH3920, I will giveH5414 my daughterH1323 AcsahH5915 in marriageH802.” 13So OthnielH6274 sonH1121 of Caleb’sH3612 youngerH6996H4480 brotherH251 KenazH7073 capturedH3920 the city, and Caleb gaveH5414 his daughterH1323 AcsahH5915 to him in marriageH802.

One dayH1961 Acsah cameH935 to Othniel and urged himH54962 to askH7592 her fatherH1 for a fieldH7704. When she got offH6795H5921 her donkeyH2543, CalebH3612 askedH559 her, “WhatH4100 do you desire?”

“GiveH3051 me a blessingH1293,” she answeredH559. “SinceH3588 you have given meH5414 landH776 in the NegevH5045, giveH5414 me springsH1543 of waterH4325 as well.”

So CalebH3612 gaveH5414 her both the upperH5942 and lowerH8482 springsH1543.

Now the descendantsH1121 of MosesH4872’ father-in-lawH2859, the KeniteH7017, went upH5927 withH854 the menH1121 of JudahH3063 from the CityH5892 of PalmsH85583 to the WildernessH4057 of JudahH3063 in the NegevH5045 near AradH6166. They wentH1980 to liveH3427 amongH854 the peopleH5971.

Then the men of JudahH3063 wentH1980 withH854 their brothersH251 the SimeonitesH8095, attackedH5221 the CanaanitesH3669 livingH3427 in ZephathH6857, and devoted the city to destructionH2763.4 So it was calledH7121 HormahH2767.5
