1 Chronicles 24:1-5
1These were the divisionsH4256 of the descendantsH1121 of AaronH175. The sonsH1121 of AaronH175 were NadabH5070, AbihuH30, EleazarH499, and IthamarH385. 2But NadabH5070 and AbihuH30 diedH4191 beforeH6440 their father didH1, and they hadH1961 noH3808 sonsH1121; so EleazarH499 and IthamarH385 served as priestsH3547.
3With the help of Eleazar’sH499 descendantH1121 ZadokH6659 and Ithamar’sH385 descendantH1121 AhimelechH288, DavidH1732 divided themH2505 according to the officesH6486 of their serviceH5656. 4Since moreH7227 leadersH7218H1397 were foundH4672 among Eleazar’sH499 descendantsH1121 thanH4480 those of IthamarH385, they were divided accordinglyH2505. There were sixteenH8337H6240 headsH7218 of familiesH1 from the descendantsH1121H1004 of EleazarH499 and eightH8083 from the descendantsH1121H1004 of IthamarH385.
5Thus they were dividedH2505 by lotH1486H428H5973, forH3588 there wereH1961 officersH8269 of the sanctuaryH6944 and officersH8269 of GodH430 among both Eleazar’sH499H1121 and Ithamar’sH385 descendantsH1121.
