Revised Literal Translation
Chronicles 24:1-5
Now these are the divisionsH4256 of the sonsH1121 of AaronH175. The sonsH1121 of AaronH175; NadabH5070, and AbihuH30, EleazarH499, and IthamarH385.
But NadabH5070 and AbihuH30 diedH4191 beforeH6440 their fatherH1, and had no childrenH1121: therefore EleazarH499 and IthamarH385 executed the priest’s officeH3547.
And DavidH1732 distributedH2505 them, both ZadokH6659 of the sonsH1121 of EleazarH499, and AhimelechH288 of the sonsH1121 of IthamarH385, according to their officesH6486 in their serviceH5656.
And there were moreH7227 chiefH7218 menH1397 foundH4672 of the sonsH1121 of EleazarH499 than of the sonsH1121 of IthamarH385; and thus were they dividedH2505. Among the sonsH1121 of EleazarH499 there were sixteenH6240H8337 chief menH7218 of the houseH1004 of their fathersH1, and eightH8083 among the sonsH1121 of IthamarH385 according to the houseH1004 of their fathersH1.
Thus were they dividedH2505 by lotH1486, one sortH428 with anotherH428; for the governorsH8269 of the sanctuaryH6944, and governorsH8269 of the house of GodH430, were of the sonsH1121 of EleazarH499, and of the sonsH1121 of IthamarH385.
