16Butכִּ֖יkiH3588when Israel came upבַּעֲלוֹתָ֣םba.'a.lo.TamH5927out of Egyptמִמִּצְרָ֑יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714, theyיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לYis.ra.'ElH3478traveledוַיֵּ֨לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980through the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּר֙ba.mid.BarH4057toעַד־'ad-H5704the Redס֔וּףSufH5488Seaיַם־yam-H3220and cameוַיָּבֹ֖אvai.ya.Vo'H935to Kadeshקָדֵֽשָׁה׃ka.De.shahH6946.

18Then Israel traveledוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980through the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֗רba.mid.BarH4057and bypassedוַיָּ֜סָבvai.Ya.sovH5437אֶת־'et-H853the landsאֶ֤רֶץ'E.retzH776of Edomאֱדוֹם֙'e.dOmH123andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853אֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124.They cameוַיָּבֹ֤אvai.ya.Vo'H935toמִמִּזְרַח־mi.miz.rach-H4217the east sideשֶׁ֙מֶשׁ֙she.meshH8121of the landלְאֶ֣רֶץle.'E.retzH776of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124and campedוַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּןvai.ya.cha.NunH2583on the other sideבְּעֵ֣בֶרbe.'E.verH5676of the Arnonאַרְנ֑וֹן'ar.NonH769.But they did notוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808enterבָ֙אוּ֙va.'uH935the territoryבִּגְב֣וּלbig.VulH1366of Moabמוֹאָ֔בmo.'AvH4124,sinceכִּ֥יkiH3588the Arnonאַרְנ֖וֹן'ar.NonH769was its borderגְּב֥וּלge.VulH1366מוֹאָֽב׃mo.'AvH4124.

19And Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִ֔יםmal.'a.KhimH4397toאֶל־'el-H413Sihonסִיח֥וֹןsi.ChonH5511kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֖יha.'e.mo.RiH567,who ruledמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428in Heshbonחֶשְׁבּ֑וֹןchesh.BonH2809יִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, ‘Pleaseנָּ֥אna'H4994let us passנַעְבְּרָה־na'.be.rah-H5674through your landבְאַרְצְךָ֖ve.'ar.tze.KhaH776intoעַד־'ad-H5704our own placeמְקוֹמִֽי׃me.ko.MiH4725.’

20But Sihonסִיח֤וֹןsi.ChonH5511אֶת־'et-H853would notוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808trustהֶאֱמִ֨יןhe.'e.MinH539Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478to passעֲבֹ֣ר'a.VorH5674through his territoryבִּגְבֻל֔וֹbig.vu.LoH1366.Soסִיחוֹן֙si.chOnH5511heאֶת־'et-H853gatheredוַיֶּאֱסֹ֤ףvai.ye.'e.SofH622allכָּל־kol-H3605his peopleעַמּ֔וֹa.MoH5971,encampedוַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583in Jahazבְּיָ֑הְצָהbe.Ya.he.tzahH3096,and foughtוַיִּלָּ֖חֶםvai.yi.La.chemH3898withעִם־'im-H5973Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

21Then the LORDיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵֽי־'e.lo.hei-H430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לYis.ra.'ElH3478אֶת־'et-H853,deliveredוַ֠יִּתֵּןVai.yi.tenH5414Sihonסִיח֧וֹןsi.ChonH5511וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and allכָּל־kol-H3605his peopleעַמּ֛וֹa.MoH5971into the handבְּיַ֥דbe.YadH3027of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,who defeated themוַיַּכּ֑וּםvai.ya.KumH5221.So Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478אֵ֚ת'etH853took possession ofוַיִּירַשׁ֙vai.yi.RashH3423allכָּל־kol-H3605the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֔יha.'e.mo.RiH567who inhabitedיוֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427thatהַהִֽיא׃ha.Hi'H1931countryהָאָ֥רֶץha.'A.retzH776,
