6Now the kingהַמֶּ֤לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428and his menוַֽאֲנָשָׁיו֙va.'a.na.ShavH582marchedוַיֵּ֨לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389againstאֶל־'el-H413the Jebusitesהַיְבֻסִ֖יhay.vu.SiH2983who inhabitedיוֹשֵׁ֣בyo.ShevH3427the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776.The Jebusites saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Davidלְדָוִ֤דle.da.VidH1732: “You will neverלֹא־lo'-H3808get inתָב֣וֹאta.Vo'H935hereהֵ֔נָּהHe.nahH2008.Evenכִּ֣י אִם־ki 'im-H3588H518the blindהַעִוְרִ֤יםha.'iv.RimH5787and lameלֵאמֹר֙ וְהַפִּסְחִים֙le.Mor ve.ha.pis.ChimH6455H559can repel youהֱסִֽירְךָ֗he.si.re.KhaH5493.”For they thoughtלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Davidדָוִ֖דda.VidH1732cannotלֹֽא־lo'-H3808get inיָב֥וֹאya.Vo'H935hereהֵֽנָּה׃He.nahH2008.”
8On thatהַה֗וּא כָּל־ha.Hu' kol-H1931H3605dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117heדָּוִ֜דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whoever attacksמַכֵּ֤הma.KehH5221the Jebusitesיְבֻסִי֙ye.vu.SiH2983must use the water shaftבַּצִּנּ֔וֹרba.tzi.NorH6794וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853to reachוְיִגַּ֣עve.yi.Ga'H5060the lameהַפִּסְחִים֙ha.pis.ChimH6455וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and blindהַ֣עִוְרִ֔יםha.'iv.RimH5787who are despisedשְׂנֻאֵ֖י נֶ֣פֶשׁse.nov Ne.feshH8130H5315by Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732.”That is whyעַל־ כֵּן֙'al- kenH5921H3651it is saidיֹֽאמְר֔וּyo.me.RuH559, “The blindעִוֵּ֣ר'i.VerH5787and the lameוּפִסֵּ֔חַu.fi.Se.achH6455will neverלֹ֥אlo'H3808enterיָב֖וֹא אֶל־ya.Vo' 'el-H935H413the palaceהַבָּֽיִת׃ha.Ba.yitH1004.”
9So Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732took up residenceוַיֵּ֤שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in the fortressבַּמְּצֻדָ֔הba.me.tzu.DahH4686and calledוַיִּקְרָא־vai.yik.ra'-H7121itthe Cityעִ֣יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732.Heדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732built it upוַיִּ֤בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129all the way aroundסָבִ֔יבsa.VivH5439,fromמִן־min-H4480the supporting terracesהַמִּלּ֖וֹאha.mi.Lo'H4407inwardוָבָֽיְתָה׃va.Va.ye.tahH1004.
11Now Hiramחִירָ֨םchi.RamH2438kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Tyreצֹ֥רtzorH6865sentוַ֠יִּשְׁלַחVai.yish.lachH7971envoysמַלְאָכִים֮mal.'a.KhimH4397toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִד֒da.VidH1732,along with cedarאֲרָזִ֔ים'a.ra.ZimH730logsוַעֲצֵ֣יva.'a.TzeiH6086,carpentersוְחָרָשֵׁ֣י עֵ֔ץve.cha.ra.Shei 'EtzH2796H6086,and stonemasonsוְחָֽרָשֵׁ֖י אֶ֣בֶן קִ֑ירve.cha.ra.Shei 'E.ven KirH2796H68H7023,and they builtוַיִּבְנֽוּ־vai.yiv.nu-H1129a palaceבַ֖יִתVa.yitH1004for Davidלְדָוִֽד׃le.da.VidH1732.
12And Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732realizedוַיֵּ֣דַעvai.Ye.da'H3045thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068had established himהֱכִינ֧וֹhe.khi.NoH3559as kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְכִי֙Yis.ra.'El ve.KhiH3478H3588and had exaltedנִשֵּׂ֣אni.Se'H5375his kingdomמַמְלַכְתּ֔וֹmam.lakh.ToH4467for the sake ofבַּעֲב֖וּרba.'a.VurH5668His peopleעַמּ֥וֹa.MoH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ סYis.ra.'ElH3478.
