5Also, whenוְהָיָה֙ve.ha.YahH1961anyoneאִ֔ישׁ'IshH376approachedבִּקְרָב־bik.rov-H7126to bow downלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֖תle.hish.ta.cha.VotH7812to him,Absalom would reach outוְשָׁלַ֧חve.sha.LachH7971אֶת־'et-H853his handיָד֛וֹya.DoH3027,take holdוְהֶחֱזִ֥יקve.he.che.ZikH2388of him,and kissוְנָ֥שַׁקve.Na.shakH5401him.

6Absalomאַבְשָׁל֜וֹם כַּדָּבָ֤ר'av.sha.Lom ka.da.VarH53 H1697didוַיַּ֨עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the Israelitesיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834cameיָבֹ֥אוּya.Vo.'uH935toאֶל־'el-H413the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428for justiceלַמִּשְׁפָּ֖טla.mish.PatH4941.In this way heאַבְשָׁל֔וֹם'av.sha.LomH53אֶת־'et-H853stoleוַיְגַנֵּב֙vay.ga.NevH1589the heartsלֵ֖בlevH3820of the menאַנְשֵׁ֥י'an.SheiH582of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פYis.ra.'ElH3478.

7Afterמִקֵּ֖ץmi.KetzH7093fourאַרְבָּעִ֣ים'ar.ba.'ImH705yearsשָׁנָ֑הsha.NahH8141had passedוַיְהִ֕יvay.HiH1961,Absalomאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙'av.sha.lOmH53saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, “Pleaseנָּ֗אNa'H4994let me goאֵ֣לֲכָה'E.la.khahH1980to Hebronבְּחֶבְרֽוֹן׃be.chev.RonH2275to fulfillוַאֲשַׁלֵּ֛םva.'a.sha.LemH7999אֶת־'et-H853a vowנִדְרִ֛יnid.RiH5088אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I have madeנָדַ֥רְתִּיna.Dar.tiH5087to the LORDלַֽיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.

8Forכִּי־ki-H3588your servantעַבְדְּךָ֔'av.de.KhaH5650madeנָדַ֣רna.DarH5087a vowנֵ֙דֶר֙ne.derH5088while dwellingH3427in Geshurבִגְשׁ֛וּרvig.ShurH1650of Aramבַּאֲרָ֖םba.'a.RamH758,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559: ‘Ifאִם־'im-H518indeedH7725the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068brings me backיְשִׁיבֵ֤נִיye.shi.Ve.niH7725to Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389,I will worshipוְעָבַדְתִּ֖יve.'a.vad.TiH5647אֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָֽהYah.wehH3068in Hebron.’”

9“Goלֵ֣ךְlekhH1980in peaceבְּשָׁל֑וֹםbe.sha.LomH7965,”saidוַיֹּֽאמֶר־vai.yo.mer-H559the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428.So Absalom got upוַיָּ֖קָםvai.Ya.komH6965and wentוַיֵּ֥לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to Hebronחֶבְרֽוֹנָה׃ פchev.Ro.nahH2275.

10Then Absalomאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙'av.sha.lOmH53sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971spiesמְרַגְּלִ֔יםme.ra.ge.LimH7270throughoutבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֥יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478with this messageלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559: “When you hearכְּשָׁמְעֲכֶם֙ke.sha.me.'a.KhemH8085אֶת־'et-H853the soundק֣וֹלKolH6963of the hornהַשֹּׁפָ֔רha.sho.FarH7782,you are to sayוַאֲמַרְתֶּ֕םva.'a.mar.TemH559, ‘Absalomאַבְשָׁל֖וֹם'av.sha.LomH53reignsמָלַ֥ךְma.LakhH4427in Hebronבְּחֶבְרֽוֹן׃be.chev.RonH2275!’”

11Two hundredמָאתַ֤יִםma.Ta.yimH3967menאִישׁ֙'ishH376from Jerusalemמִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םmi.Ru.sha.LimH3389accompaniedוְאֶת־ הָלְכ֞וּve.'Et ha.le.KhuH1980 H854Absalomאַבְשָׁל֗וֹם'av.sha.LomH53.They had been invited as guestsקְרֻאִ֖יםke.ru.'ImH7121and they went alongוְהֹלְכִ֣יםve.ho.le.KhimH1980innocentlyלְתֻמָּ֑םle.tu.MamH8537,for they knewיָדְע֖וּya.de.'UH3045nothingוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808aboutכָּל־kol-H3605the matterדָּבָֽר׃da.VarH1697.

12While Absalom was offeringבְּזָבְח֖וֹbe.za.ve.ChoH2076אֶת־'et-H853the sacrificesהַזְּבָחִ֑יםha.ze.va.ChimH2077, heאַ֠בְשָׁלוֹם'Av.sha.lomH53אֶת־'et-H853sent forוַיִּשְׁלַ֣חvai.yish.LachH7971Ahithophelאֲחִיתֹ֨פֶל'a.chi.To.felH302the Giloniteהַגִּֽילֹנִ֜יha.gi.lo.NiH1526,David’sדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732counselorיוֹעֵ֣ץyo.'EtzH3289, to comefrom his hometownמֵֽעִירוֹ֙me.'i.RoH5892of Gilohמִגִּלֹ֔הmi.gi.LohH1542.So the conspiracyהַקֶּ֙שֶׁר֙ha.Ke.sherH7195gainedוַיְהִ֤יvay.HiH1961strengthאַמִּ֔ץ'a.MitzH533,and Absalom’sאַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃'av.sha.LomH53followingוְהָעָ֛םve.ha.'AmH5971keptהוֹלֵ֥ךְho.LekhH1980increasingוָרָ֖ב אֶת־va.Rav 'et-H7227 H854.

13Then a messengerהַמַּגִּ֔ידha.ma.GidH5046cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732and reportedלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “The heartsלֶב־lev-H3820of the menאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478areהָיָ֛הha.YahH1961withאַחֲרֵ֥י'a.cha.ReiH310Absalomאַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃'av.sha.LomH53.”
