12While Absalom was offeringבְּזָבְח֖וֹbe.za.ve.ChoH2076אֶת־'et-H853the sacrificesהַזְּבָחִ֑יםha.ze.va.ChimH2077, heאַ֠בְשָׁלוֹם'Av.sha.lomH53אֶת־'et-H853sent forוַיִּשְׁלַ֣חvai.yish.LachH7971Ahithophelאֲחִיתֹ֨פֶל'a.chi.To.felH302the Giloniteהַגִּֽילֹנִ֜יha.gi.lo.NiH1526,David’sדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732counselorיוֹעֵ֣ץyo.'EtzH3289, to comefrom his hometownמֵֽעִירוֹ֙me.'i.RoH5892of Gilohמִגִּלֹ֔הmi.gi.LohH1542.So the conspiracyהַקֶּ֙שֶׁר֙ha.Ke.sherH7195gainedוַיְהִ֤יvay.HiH1961strengthאַמִּ֔ץ'a.MitzH533,and Absalom’sאַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃'av.sha.LomH53followingוְהָעָ֛םve.ha.'AmH5971keptהוֹלֵ֥ךְho.LekhH1980increasingוָרָ֖ב אֶת־va.Rav 'et-H7227 H854.

13Then a messengerהַמַּגִּ֔ידha.ma.GidH5046cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732and reportedלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “The heartsלֶב־lev-H3820of the menאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478areהָיָ֛הha.YahH1961withאַחֲרֵ֥י'a.cha.ReiH310Absalomאַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃'av.sha.LomH53.”

15The king’sהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428servantsעַבְדֵֽי־'av.dei-H5650repliedוַיֹּאמְר֥וּvai.yo.me.RuH559אֶל־'el-H413הַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, “Whateverכְּכֹ֧לke.KholH3605אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834our lordאֲדֹנִ֥י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְ הִנֵּ֥הha.Me.lekh hi.NehH4428 H2009decidesיִבְחַ֛רyiv.CharH977,we are your servantsעֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃'a.va.Dei.khaH5650.”

16Then the kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428set outוַיֵּצֵ֥אvai.ye.Tze'H3318,and his entireוְכָל־ve.kholH3605householdבֵּית֖וֹbei.ToH1004followed himבְּרַגְלָ֑יוbe.rag.LavH7272.But heהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428אֵ֣ת'etH853left behindוַיַּעֲזֹ֣בvai.ya.'a.ZoH5800tenעֶ֧שֶׂר נָשִׁ֛ים'E.ser na.ShimH6235 H802concubinesפִּֽלַגְשִׁ֖יםpi.lag.ShimH6370to take care ofלִשְׁמֹ֥רlish.MorH8104the palaceהַבָּֽיִת׃ha.Ba.yitH1004.

17So the kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428set outוַיֵּצֵ֥אvai.ye.Tze'H3318with allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971following himבְּרַגְלָ֑יוbe.rag.LavH7272. Hestoppedוַיַּעַמְד֖וּvai.ya.'am.DuH5975atבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004the last houseהַמֶּרְחָֽק׃ha.mer.ChakH4801,

19Then the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Ittaiאִתַּ֣י'i.TaiH863the Gittiteהַגִּתִּ֔יha.gi.TiH1663, “Whyלָ֧מָּהLa.mahH4100should youאַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH859alsoגַּם־gam-H1571goתֵלֵ֛ךְte.LekhH1980with usאִתָּ֑נוּ'i.Ta.nuH854?Go backשׁ֣וּבshuvH7725and stayוְשֵׁ֤בve.ShevH3427withעִם־'im-H5973the new kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428,sinceכִּֽי־ki-H3588you areאַ֔תָּה'A.tahH859both a foreignerנָכְרִ֣יna.khe.RiH5237andוְגַם־ve.gam-H1571an exileגֹּלֶ֥ה אַתָּ֖הgo.Leh 'a.TahH1540 H859from your homelandלִמְקוֹמֶֽךָ׃lim.ko.Me.chaH4725.

21But Ittaiאִתַּ֛י'i.TaiH863answeredוַיַּ֧עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030אֶת־'et-H853וַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, “As surely as the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,and as my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כִּ֠יha.Me.lekh kiH4428 H3588livesוְחֵי֙ve.CheiH2416,whereverבִּמְק֞וֹםbim.KomH4725אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428may beיִֽהְיֶה־yih.yeh-H1961אִם־'im-H518,whetherאִם־'im-H518it means lifeשָּׁ֣ם׀ לְחַיִּ֔ים כִּי־sham le.chai.Yim ki-H2416 H3588 H8033orאִם־'im-H518deathלְמָ֙וֶת֙le.Ma.vetH4194,there willשָׁ֖םshamH8033your servantעַבְדֶּֽךָ׃'av.De.khaH5650beיִהְיֶ֥הyih.YehH1961!”
