6So Amnonאַמְנ֖וֹן'am.NonH550lay downוַיִּשְׁכַּ֥בvai.yish.KavH7901and feigned illnessוַיִּתְחָ֑לvai.yit.ChalH2470.When the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428cameוַיָּבֹ֨אvai.ya.Vo'H935to see himלִרְאֹת֗וֹlir.'o.ToH7200,Amnonאַמְנ֤וֹן'am.NonH550saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559אֶל־'el-H413הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428, “Pleaseנָ֞אna'H4994let my sisterאֲחֹתִ֗י וּתְלַבֵּ֤ב'a.cho.Ti u.te.la.BevH269 H3823Tamarתָּמָ֣רta.MarH8559comeתָּֽבוֹא־ta.Vo'-H935and make a coupleשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147of cakesלְבִב֔וֹתle.vi.VotH3834in my sightלְעֵינַי֙le.'ei.NaiH5869,so that I may eatוְאֶבְרֶ֖הve.'ev.RehH1262from her handמִיָּדָֽהּ׃mi.ya.DahH3027.”

7Then Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֥חvai.yish.LachH7971word toאֶל־'el-H413Tamarתָּמָ֖רta.MarH8559at the palaceהַבַּ֣יְתָה לֵאמֹ֑רha.Bay.tah le.MorH1004 H559: “Pleaseנָ֗אNa'H4994goלְכִ֣יle.KhiH1980to the houseבֵּ֚יתbeitH1004of Amnonאַמְנ֣וֹן'am.NonH550your brotherאָחִ֔יךְ'a.ChikhH251and prepareוַעֲשִׂי־va.'a.si-H6213a mealהַבִּרְיָֽה׃ha.bir.YahH1279for him.”

8So Tamarתָּמָ֗רta.MarH8559wentוַתֵּ֣לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980to the houseבֵּ֛יתbeitH1004of her brotherאָחִ֖יהָ'a.Chi.haH251Amnonאַמְנ֥וֹן'am.NonH550, whoוְה֣וּאve.Hu'H1931was lying downשֹׁכֵ֑בsho.KhevH7901.She tookוַתִּקַּ֨חva.ti.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853some doughהַבָּצֵ֤קha.ba.TzekH1217,kneadedוַתָּ֙לָשׁ֙va.ta.lo.oshH3888it,made cakesוַתְּלַבֵּ֣בva.te.la.BevH3823in his sightלְעֵינָ֔יוle.'ei.NavH5869,and bakedוַתְּבַשֵּׁ֖לva.te.va.ShelH1310אֶת־'et-H853themהַלְּבִבֽוֹת׃ha.le.vi.VotH3834.

9Then she broughtוַתִּקַּ֤חva.ti.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853the panהַמַּשְׂרֵת֙ha.mas.RetH4958and set it downוַתִּצֹ֣קva.ti.TzokH3332before himלְפָנָ֔יוle.fa.NavH6440,but he refusedוַיְמָאֵ֖ןvay.ma.'EnH3985to eatלֶאֱכ֑וֹלle.'e.KholH398. “Send everyoneכָל־ אִישׁ֙ מֵֽעָלַ֔יkhol- 'ish me.'a.LaiH3605 H376 H5921awayהוֹצִ֤יאוּho.Tzi.'uH3318!”saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Amnonאַמְנ֗וֹן'am.NonH550.And everyoneכָל־ אִ֖ישׁ מֵעָלָֽיו׃khol- 'ish me.'a.LavH3605 H376 H5921went outוַיֵּצְא֥וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318.

10Then Amnonאַמְנ֜וֹן'am.NonH550saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Tamarתָּמָ֗רta.MarH8559, “Bringהָבִ֤יאִיha.Vi.'iH935the foodהַבִּרְיָה֙ha.bir.YahH1279into the bedroomהַחֶ֔דֶרha.che.DerH2315,so that I may eat itוְאֶבְרֶ֖הve.'ev.RehH1262from your handמִיָּדֵ֑ךְmi.ya.DekhH3027.”Tamarתָּמָ֗רta.MarH8559אֶת־'et-H853tookוַתִּקַּ֣חva.ti.KachH3947the cakesהַלְּבִבוֹת֙ha.le.vi.VotH3834אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834she had madeעָשָׂ֔תָה'a.Sa.tahH6213and wentוַתָּבֵ֛אva.ta.Ve'H935to her brotherאָחִ֖יהָ'a.Chi.haH251Amnon’sלְאַמְנ֥וֹןle.'am.NonH550bedroomהֶחָֽדְרָה׃he.Cha.de.rahH2315.

11And when she had broughtוַתַּגֵּ֥שׁva.ta.GeshH5066themto himאֵלָ֖יו'e.LavH413to eatלֶֽאֱכֹ֑לle.'e.KholH398,he took holdוַיַּֽחֲזֶק־vai.ya.cha.zek-H2388of herand saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Comeבּ֛וֹאִיBo.'iH935lieשִׁכְבִ֥יshikh.ViH7901with meעִמִּ֖י'i.MiH5973,my sisterאֲחוֹתִֽי׃'a.cho.TiH269!”

12“Noאַל־'al-H408,my brotherאָחִי֙'a.ChiH251!”she criedוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559. “Do notאַל־'al-H408violate meתְּעַנֵּ֔נִיte.'a.Ne.niH6031,forכִּ֛יkiH3588suchכֵ֖ןkhenH3651a thing should neverלֹא־lo'-H3808be doneיֵֽעָשֶׂ֥הye.'a.SehH6213in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.Do notאַֽל־'al-H408doתַּעֲשֵׂ֖הta.'a.SehH6213אֶת־'et-H853thisהַזֹּֽאת׃ha.ZotH2063disgraceful thingהַנְּבָלָ֥הha.ne.va.LahH5039!

13Whereאָ֤נָה'A.nahH575could Iוַאֲנִ֗יva.'a.NiH589ever takeאוֹלִיךְ֙'o.liKhH1980אֶת־'et-H853my shameחֶרְפָּתִ֔יcher.pa.TiH2781?And youוְאַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH859would beתִּהְיֶ֛הtih.YehH1961like oneכְּאַחַ֥דke.'a.ChadH259of the foolsהַנְּבָלִ֖יםha.ne.va.LimH5036in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְעַתָּה֙be.Yis.ra.'El ve.'a.TahH3478 H6258!Pleaseנָ֣אna'H4994speakדַּבֶּר־da.ber-H1696toאֶל־'el-H413the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,forכִּ֛יkiH3588he will notלֹ֥אlo'H3808withhold meיִמְנָעֵ֖נִיyim.na.'E.niH4513from youמִמֶּֽךָּ׃mi.Me.kaH4480.”

14But Amnon refusedוְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖הve.Lo' 'a.VahH3808 H14to listen to herלִשְׁמֹ֣עַ בְּקוֹלָ֑הּlish.Mo.a' be.ko.LahH8085 H6963,and being strongerוַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק מִמֶּ֙נָּה֙vai.ye.che.Zak mi.Me.nahH2388 H4480,he violated herוַיְעַנֶּ֔הָvay.'a.Ne.haH6031and lay withוַיִּשְׁכַּ֖בvai.yish.KavH7901herאֹתָֽהּ׃'o.TahH854.
