6“I happenedנִקְרֹ֤א נִקְרֵ֙יתִי֙nik.Ro' nik.Rei.tiH7122H7136to be on Mountבְּהַ֣רbe.HarH2022Gilboaהַגִּלְבֹּ֔עַha.gil.Bo.a'H1533,” heהַנַּ֣עַר׀ha.Na.'arH5288הַמַּגִּ֣ידha.ma.GidH5046repliedוַיֹּ֜אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “and thereוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009was Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586,leaningנִשְׁעָ֣ןnish.'AnH8172onעַל־'al-H5921his spearחֲנִית֑וֹcha.ni.ToH2595,withוְהִנֵּ֥הve.hi.NehH2009the chariotsהָרֶ֛כֶב וּבַעֲלֵ֥יha.Re.khev u.va.'a.LeiH7393H1167and the cavalryהַפָּרָשִׁ֖יםha.pa.ra.ShimH6571closing in on himהִדְבִּקֻֽהוּ׃hid.bi.Ku.huH1692.
9Then he begged meוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗יvai.Yo.mer 'e.LaiH559H413, ‘Standעֲמָד־ נָ֤א'a.mod- na'H5975H4994over meעָלַי֙'a.LaiH5921and kill meוּמֹ֣תְתֵ֔נִיu.Mo.te.Te.niH4191,forכִּ֥יkiH3588agonyהַשָּׁבָ֑ץha.sha.VatzH7661has seized meאֲחָזַ֖נִי'a.cha.Za.niH270,butכִּֽי־ki-H3588my lifeנַפְשִׁ֖יnaf.ShiH5315stillכָל־khol-H3605lingersע֥וֹדodH5750.’
10So I stoodוָאֶעֱמֹ֤דva.'e.'e.ModH5975over himעָלָיו֙'a.LavH5921and killed himוַאֲמֹ֣תְתֵ֔הוּva.'a.Mo.te.Te.huH4191,becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588I knewיָדַ֔עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045thatכִּ֛יkiH3588afterאַחֲרֵ֣י'a.cha.ReiH310he had fallenנִפְל֑וֹnif.LoH5307he could notלֹ֥אlo'H3808surviveיִֽחְיֶ֖הyich.YehH2421.And I tookוָאֶקַּ֞חva.'e.KachH3947the crownהַנֵּ֣זֶר׀ha.Ne.zerH5145thatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834was onעַל־'al-H5921his headרֹאשׁ֗וֹro.ShoH7218and the bandוְאֶצְעָדָה֙ve.'etz.'a.DahH685thatאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834was onעַל־'al-H5921his armזְרֹע֔וֹze.ro.'OH2220,and I have brought themוָאֲבִיאֵ֥םva.'a.vi.'EmH935hereהֵֽנָּה׃He.nahH2008toאֶל־'el-H413my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113.”
12They mournedוַֽיִּסְפְּדוּ֙vai.yis.pe.DuH5594and weptוַיִּבְכּ֔וּvai.yiv.KuH1058and fastedוַיָּצֻ֖מוּvai.ya.Tzu.muH6684untilעַד־'ad-H5704eveningהָעָ֑רֶבha.'A.revH6153forעַל־'al-H5921Saulשָׁא֞וּלsha.'UlH7586andוְעַל־ve.'al-H5921his sonבְּנ֗וֹ וְעַל־be.No ve.'al-H1121H5921Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֣ןye.ho.na.TanH3083,and for the peopleעַ֤ם'amH5971of the LORDיְהוָה֙ וְעַל־Yah.weh ve.'al-H3068H5921and the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588they had fallenנָפְל֖וּna.fe.LuH5307by the swordבֶּחָֽרֶב׃ סbe.Cha.revH2719.
13And Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732inquiredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559ofאֶל־'el-H413the young manהַנַּ֙עַר֙ha.Na.'arH5288who had brought him the reportהַמַּגִּ֣ידha.ma.GidH5046, “Whereאֵ֥י מִזֶּ֖ה'ei mi.ZehH335H2088are you fromאָ֑תָּה'A.tahH859?” “I am the sonבֶּן־ אִ֛ישׁben- 'ishH1121H376of a foreignerגֵּ֥רgerH1616,”he answeredוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “I amאָנֹֽכִי׃'a.No.khiH595an Amalekiteעֲמָלֵקִ֖י'a.mal.KiH6003.”
14So Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732askedוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559himאֵלָ֖יו'e.LavH413, “Whyאֵ֚יךְ'eikhH349were you notלֹ֣אlo'H3808afraidיָרֵ֔אתָya.Re.taH3372to liftלִשְׁלֹ֙חַ֙lish.Lo.achH7971your handיָֽדְךָ֔ya.de.KhaH3027to destroyלְשַׁחֵ֖תle.sha.ChetH7843אֶת־'et-H853the LORD’sיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068anointedמְשִׁ֥יחַme.Shi.achH4899?”
15Then Davidדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732summonedוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121oneלְאַחַד֙le.'a.ChadH259of the young menמֵֽהַנְּעָרִ֔יםme.ha.ne.'a.RimH5288and saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Goגַּ֣שׁgashH5066,executeפְּגַע־pe.ga'-H6293him!”So the young man struck him downוַיַּכֵּ֖הוּvai.ya.Ke.huH5221,and he diedוַיָּמֹֽת׃vai.ya.MotH4191.
16For Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732had saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the Amalekiteאֵלָיו֙'e.LavH413, “Your bloodדָּמְךָ֖da.mei.khaH1818beonעַל־'al-H5921your own headרֹאשֶׁ֑ךָro.She.khaH7218becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588your own mouthפִ֗יךָFi.khaH6310has testifiedעָנָ֤ה'a.NahH6030against you,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Iאָנֹכִ֥י'a.no.KhiH595killedמֹתַ֖תִּיmo.Ta.tiH4191אֶת־'et-H853the LORD’sיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068anointedמְשִׁ֥יחַme.Shi.achH4899.’”
18and he orderedוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559that the sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063be taughtלְלַמֵּ֥דle.la.MedH3925the Song ofthe Bowקָ֑שֶׁת הִנֵּ֥הKa.shet hi.NehH7198H2009.It is writtenכְתוּבָ֖הkhe.tu.VahH3789inעַל־'al-H5921the Bookסֵ֥פֶרSe.ferH5612of Jasharהַיָּשָֽׁר׃hai.ya.SharH3477:
