6And the young manהַנַּ֣עַר׀ha.Na.'arH5288that toldהַמַּגִּ֣ידha.ma.GidH5046him saidוַיֹּ֜אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,As I happenedנִקְרֵ֙יתִי֙nik.Rei.tiH7136by chanceנִקְרֹ֤אnik.Ro'H7122upon mountבְּהַ֣רbe.HarH2022Gilboaהַגִּלְבֹּ֔עַha.gil.Bo.a'H1533,behold, Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586leanedנִשְׁעָ֣ןnish.'AnH8172upon his spearחֲנִית֑וֹcha.ni.ToH2595;and, lo, the chariotsהָרֶ֛כֶבha.Re.khevH7393and horsemenוּבַעֲלֵ֥י הַפָּרָשִׁ֖יםu.va.'a.Lei ha.pa.ra.ShimH6571 H1167followed hardהִדְבִּקֻֽהוּ׃hid.bi.Ku.huH1692after him.

7And when he lookedוַיִּ֥פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437behindאַחֲרָ֖יו'a.cha.RavH310him, he sawוַיִּרְאֵ֑נִיvai.yir.'E.niH7200me, and calledוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121unto me. And I answeredוָאֹמַ֖רva.'o.MarH559, Here am I.

8And he saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto me, Who artthou? And I answeredוָאֹמַ֣רvai.yo.merH559him, I aman Amalekiteעֲמָלֵקִ֖י'a.mal.KiH6003.

9He saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto me again, Standעֲמָד־'a.mod-H5975,I pray thee, upon me, and slayוּמֹ֣תְתֵ֔נִיu.Mo.te.Te.niH4191me: for anguishהַשָּׁבָ֑ץha.sha.VatzH7661is comeאֲחָזַ֖נִי'a.cha.Za.niH270upon me, because my lifeנַפְשִׁ֖יnaf.ShiH5315is yet whole in me.

10So I stoodוָאֶעֱמֹ֤דva.'e.'e.ModH5975upon him, and slewוַאֲמֹ֣תְתֵ֔הוּva.'a.Mo.te.Te.huH4191him, because I was sureיָדַ֔עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045that he could not liveיִֽחְיֶ֖הyich.YehH2421afterאַחֲרֵ֣י'a.cha.ReiH310that he was fallenנִפְל֑וֹnif.LoH5307:and I tookוָאֶקַּ֞חva.'e.KachH3947the crownהַנֵּ֣זֶר׀ha.Ne.zerH5145that wasupon his headרֹאשׁ֗וֹro.ShoH7218,and the braceletוְאֶצְעָדָה֙ve.'etz.'a.DahH685that wason his armזְרֹע֔וֹze.ro.'OH2220,and have broughtוָאֲבִיאֵ֥םva.'a.vi.'EmH935them hither unto my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113.

11Then Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732took holdוַיַּחֲזֵ֥קvai.ya.cha.ZekH2388on his clothesבִּבְגָדָ֖יוbiv.ga.dovH899,and rentוַיִּקְרָעֵ֑םvai.yik.ra.'EmH7167them; and likewise all the menהָאֲנָשִׁ֖יםha.'a.na.ShimH582that were with him:

12And they mournedוַֽיִּסְפְּדוּ֙vai.yis.pe.DuH5594,and weptוַיִּבְכּ֔וּvai.yiv.KuH1058,and fastedוַיָּצֻ֖מוּvai.ya.Tzu.muH6684until evenהָעָ֑רֶבha.'A.revH6153,for Saulשָׁא֞וּלsha.'UlH7586,and for Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֣ןye.ho.na.TanH3083his sonבְּנ֗וֹbe.NoH1121,and for the peopleעַ֤ם'amH5971of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,and for the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478;because they were fallenנָפְל֖וּna.fe.LuH5307by the swordבֶּחָֽרֶב׃ סbe.Cha.revH2719.

13And Davidדָּוִ֗דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto the young manהַנַּ֙עַר֙ha.Na.'arH5288that toldהַמַּגִּ֣ידha.ma.GidH5046him, Whence artthou? And he answeredוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, I amthe sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of a strangerאִ֛ישׁ גֵּ֥ר'ish gerH1616 H376,an Amalekiteעֲמָלֵקִ֖י'a.mal.KiH6003.

14And Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, How wast thou not afraidיָרֵ֔אתָya.Re.taH3372to stretch forthלִשְׁלֹ֙חַ֙lish.Lo.achH7971thine handיָֽדְךָ֔ya.de.KhaH3027to destroyלְשַׁחֵ֖תle.sha.ChetH7843the Lord’sיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068anointedמְשִׁ֥יחַme.Shi.achH4899?

15And Davidדָוִ֗דda.VidH1732calledוַיִּקְרָ֣אvai.yik.Ra'H7121oneלְאַחַד֙le.'a.ChadH259of the young menמֵֽהַנְּעָרִ֔יםme.ha.ne.'a.RimH5288,and saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Go nearגַּ֣שׁgashH5066, andfallפְּגַע־pe.ga'-H6293upon him. And he smoteוַיַּכֵּ֖הוּvai.ya.Ke.huH5221him that he diedוַיָּמֹֽת׃vai.ya.MotH4191.

16And Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Thy bloodדָּמְךָ֖da.mei.khaH1818beupon thy headרֹאשֶׁ֑ךָro.She.khaH7218;for thy mouthפִ֗יךָFi.khaH6310hath testifiedעָנָ֤ה'a.NahH6030against thee, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,I have slainמֹתַ֖תִּיmo.Ta.tiH4191the Lord’sיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068anointedמְשִׁ֥יחַme.Shi.achH4899.

17And Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732lamentedוַיְקֹנֵ֣ןvay.ko.NenH6969with this lamentationהַקִּינָ֖הha.ki.NahH7015over Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586and over Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֥ןye.ho.na.TanH3083his sonבְּנֽוֹ׃be.NoH1121:
