3but Godוְהָאֱלֹהִים֙ve.ha.'E.lo.HimH430saidאָ֣מַר'A.marH559to me, ‘You are notלֹא־lo'-H3808to buildתִבְנֶ֥הtiv.NehH1129a houseבַ֖יִתVa.yitH1004for My Nameלִשְׁמִ֑יlish.MiH8034,becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588youאַ֖תָּה'A.tahH859are a manאִ֧ישׁ'ishH376of warמִלְחָמ֛וֹתmil.cha.MotH4421who has shedשָׁפָֽכְתָּ׃sha.Fa.khe.taH8210bloodוְדָמִ֥יםve.da.MimH1818.’

4Yet the LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵי֩'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֨לYis.ra.'ElH3478,choseוַיִּבְחַ֡רvai.yiv.CharH977meout of allמִכֹּ֣לmi.KolH3605my father’sאָבִ֗י'a.ViH1houseבֵּית־beit-H1004to beלִהְי֨וֹתlih.YotH1961kingלְמֶ֤לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478foreverלְעוֹלָ֔םle.'o.LamH5769.Forכִּ֤יkiH3588He choseבָּחַ֣רba.CharH977Judahבִֽיהוּדָה֙vi.hu.DahH3063as leaderלְנָגִ֔ידle.na.GidH5057,and from the houseוּבְבֵ֥יתu.ve.VeitH1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063He chosemy father’sאָבִ֑י'a.ViH1householdבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004,and from my father’sאָבִ֔י'a.ViH1sonsוּבִבְנֵ֣יu.viv.NeiH1121He was pleasedרָצָ֔הra.TzahH7521to make me kingלְהַמְלִ֖יךְle.ham.LikhH4427overעַל־'al-H5921allכָּל־kol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

5And of allוּמִכָּ֨ל־u.mi.Kal-H3605my sonsבָּנַ֔יba.NaiH1121—forכִּ֚יkiH3588the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068has givenנָ֥תַןNa.tanH5414memanyרַבִּ֣יםra.BimH7227sonsבָּנִ֔יםba.NimH1121—He has chosenוַיִּבְחַר֙vai.yiv.CharH977Solomonבִּשְׁלֹמֹ֣הbish.lo.MohH8010my sonבְנִ֔יve.NiH1121to sitלָשֶׁ֗בֶתla.She.vetH3427onעַל־'al-H5921the throneכִּסֵּ֛אki.Se'H3678of the kingdomמַלְכ֥וּתmal.KhutH4438of the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

6And He saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to me, ‘Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֣הshe.lo.MohH8010your sonבִנְךָ֔vin.KhaH1121is the oneהֽוּא־hu'-H1931who will buildיִבְנֶ֥הyiv.NehH1129My houseבֵיתִ֖יvei.TiH1004and My courtsוַחֲצֵרוֹתָ֑יva.cha.tze.ro.TaiH2691,forכִּי־ki-H3588I have chosen himבָחַ֨רְתִּיva.Char.tiH977as Mysonלְבֵ֔ןle.VenH1121,and Iוַאֲנִ֖יva.'a.NiH589will beאֶֽהְיֶה־'eh.yeh-H1961hisFatherלְאָֽב׃le.'AvH1.

7I will establishוַהֲכִינוֹתִ֥יva.ha.khi.no.TiH3559אֶת־'et-H853his kingdomמַלְכוּת֖וֹmal.khu.ToH4438foreverעַד־ לְעוֹלָ֑ם'ad- le.'o.LamH5704 H5769,ifאִם־'im-H518he resolutelyיֶחֱזַ֗קye.che.ZakH2388carries outלַעֲשׂ֛וֹתla.'a.SotH6213My commandmentsמִצְוֹתַ֥יmitz.vo.TaiH4687and ordinancesוּמִשְׁפָּטַ֖יu.mish.pa.TaiH4941,as is being doneכַּיּ֥וֹםkai.YomH3117this dayהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088.’

8So nowוְ֠עַתָּהVe.'a.tahH6258in the sightלְעֵינֵ֨יle.'ei.NeiH5869of allכָל־khol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לYis.ra.'ElH3478,the assemblyקְהַל־ke.hal-H6951of the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,and in the hearingוּבְאָזְנֵ֣יu.ve.'a.ze.NeiH241of our Godאֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430,keepשִׁמְר֣וּshim.RuH8104and seek outוְדִרְשׁ֔וּve.dir.ShuH1875allכָּל־kol-H3605the commandmentsמִצְוֹ֖תmitz.VotH4687of the LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430,so thatלְמַ֤עַןle.Ma.'anH4616you may possessתִּֽירְשׁוּ֙ti.re.ShuH3423אֶת־'et-H853this goodהַטּוֹבָ֔הha.to.VahH2896landהָאָ֣רֶץha.'A.retzH776and leave it as an inheritanceוְהִנְחַלְתֶּ֛םve.hin.chal.TemH5157to your descendantsלִבְנֵיכֶ֥ם אַחֲרֵיכֶ֖םliv.nei.Khem 'a.cha.rei.KhemH1121 H310foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃ פ'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.

9As for youוְאַתָּ֣הve.'a.TahH859,Solomonשְׁלֹמֹֽה־she.lo.moh-H8010my sonבְנִ֡יve.NiH1121,knowדַּע֩da'H3045אֶת־'et-H853the Godאֱלֹהֵ֨י'e.lo.HeiH430of your fatherאָבִ֜יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1and serve Himוְעָבְדֵ֗הוּve.'a.ve.De.huH5647wholeheartedlyבְּלֵ֤ב שָׁלֵם֙be.Lev sha.LemH3820 H8003and with a willingחֲפֵצָ֔הcha.fe.TzahH2655mindוּבְנֶ֣פֶשׁu.ve.Ne.feshH5315,forכִּ֤יkiH3588the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068searchesדּוֹרֵ֣שׁdo.ReshH1875everyכָל־khol-H3605heartלְבָבוֹת֙le.va.VotH3824and understandsמֵבִ֑יןme.VinH995the intentיֵ֥צֶרYe.tzerH3336of everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605thoughtמַחֲשָׁב֖וֹתma.cha.sha.VotH4284.Ifאִֽם־'im-H518you seek Himתִּדְרְשֶׁ֙נּוּ֙tid.re.She.nuH1875,He will be foundיִמָּ֣צֵאyi.Ma.tze'H4672by you;but ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518you forsake Himתַּֽעַזְבֶ֖נּוּta.'az.Ve.nuH5800,He will reject youיַזְנִיחֲךָ֥yaz.ni.cha.KhaH2186foreverלָעַֽד׃la.'AdH5703.
