Job 7
American Standard Version
1Is there not a warfareH6635 to man upon earthH776? And are not his daysH3117 like the daysH3117 of a hireling?2As a servantH5650 that earnestly desireth the shadowH6738, And as a hireling that looketh for his wagesH6467:3SoH3651 am I made to possessH5157 monthsH3391 of misery, And wearisome nightsH3915 are appointedH4487 to me.4When I lieH7901 down, I sayH559, When shall I ariseH6965, and the night be gone? And I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day.5My fleshH1320 is clothedH3847 with worms and clods of dustH6083; My skinH5785 closeth up, and breaketh out afresh.6My daysH3117 are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, And are spent without hopeH8615.7Oh rememberH2142 that my lifeH2416 is a breathH7307: Mine eyeH5869 shall no more seeH7200 goodH2896.8The eyeH5869 of him that seeth me shall behold me no more; Thine eyesH5869 shall be upon me, but I shall not be.9As the cloudH6051 is consumed and vanisheth away, So he that goeth downH3381 to SheolH7585 shall comeH5927 up no more.10He shall returnH7725 no more to his houseH1004, Neither shall his placeH4725 know him any more.11Therefore I will not refrainH2820 my mouthH6310; I will speakH1696 in the anguish of my spiritH7307; I will complainH7878 in the bitternessH4751 of my soulH5315.12Am I a seaH3220, or a sea-monster, That thou settest a watch over me?13When I sayH559, My bedH4904 shall comfortH5162 me, My couchH6210 shall ease my complaint;14Then thou scarest me with dreamsH2472, And terrifiest me through visionsH2384:15So that my soulH5315 chooseth strangling, And deathH4194 rather than these my bonesH6106.16I loathe my life; I would not liveH2421 alway: Let me alone; for my daysH3117 are vanityH1892.17What is man, that thou shouldest magnifyH1431 him, And that thou shouldest setH7896 thy mind upon him,18And that thou shouldest visitH6485 him every morningH1242, And try him every momentH7281?19HowH4100 long wilt thou not lookH8159 away from me, Nor let me alone till I swallowH1104 down my spittleH7536?20If I have sinnedH2398, what do I unto thee, O thou watcher of menH120? WhyH4100 hast thou setH7760 me as a mark for thee, So that I amH1961 a burdenH4853 to myself?21And whyH4100 dost thou not pardon my transgressionH6588, and takeH5375 awayH5375 mine iniquityH5771? For nowH6258 shall I lieH7901 down in the dustH6083; And thou wilt seekH7836 me diligently, but I shall not be.
