Job 40
American Standard Version
1Moreover Jehovah answered JobH347, and saidH559,
2Shall he that cavilleth contendH7378 with the AlmightyH7706?He that argueth with GodH433, let him answerH6030 it.
3Then JobH347 answered Jehovah, and saidH559,
4Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer thee?I lay my handH3027 upon my mouthH6310.5Once have I spokenH1696, and I will not answerH6030;Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.
6Then Jehovah answered JobH347 out of the whirlwind, and saidH559,
7GirdH247 up thy loinsH2504 now like a manH1397:I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.8Wilt thou evenH637 annulH6565 my judgmentH4941?Wilt thou condemnH7561 me, that thou mayest be justifiedH6663?9Or hast thou an armH2220 like GodH410?And canst thou thunderH6963 with a voiceH6963 like him?10Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity; And array thyself with honor and majestyH1926.11Pour forth the overflowings of thine angerH639;And lookH7200 upon every one that is proudH1343, and abase him.12LookH7200 on every one that is proudH1343, and bring him low;And tread down the wickedH7563 where they stand.13HideH2934 them in the dustH6083 togetherH3162;BindH2280 their facesH6440 in the hiddenH2934place.14Then will I alsoH1571 confessH3034 of theeThat thine own rightH3225 handH3225 can saveH3467 thee.15Behold now, behemoth, which I madeH6213 as well as thee;He eateth grassH2682 as an oxH1241.16Lo now, his strengthH3581 is in his loinsH4975,And his force is in the muscles of his bellyH990.17He moveth his tailH2180 like a cedarH730:The sinewsH1517 of his thighs are knit together.18His bonesH6106 areastubes of brass; His limbs are like bars of ironH1270.19He is the chief of the waysH1870 of GodH410:Heonlythat madeH6213 him giveth him his swordH2719.20Surely the mountainsH2022 bring him forth food,Where all the beasts of the fieldH7704 do playH7832.21He lieth under the lotus-trees,In the covert of the reedH7070, and the fen.22The lotus-trees cover him with their shade; The willows of the brook compass him about.23Behold, if a riverH5104 overflow, he trembleth not;He is confidentH982, though a JordanH3383 swell even to his mouthH6310.24Shall any takeH3947 him when he is on the watch,Or pierce through his noseH639 with a snareH4170?
