Esther 9:1-19

1Now in the twelfth monthH2320, which is the monthH2320 AdarH143, on the thirteenth dayH3117 of the same, when the king’sH4428 commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, on the dayH3117 that the enemiesH341 of the JewsH3064 hoped to have rule over them (whereas it was turnedH2015 to the contrary, that the JewsH3064 had rule over them that hatedH8130 them), 2the JewsH3064 gathered themselves together in their citiesH5892 throughout all the provincesH4082 of the kingH4428 AhasuerusH325, to lay handH3027 on such as soughtH1245 their hurt: and no manH376 could withstand them; for the fearH6343 of them was fallenH5307 upon all the peoplesH5971. 3And all the princesH8269 of the provincesH4082, and the satrapsH323, and the governorsH6346, and they that did the king’sH4428 businessH4399, helped the JewsH3064; because the fearH6343 of MordecaiH4782 was fallenH5307 upon them. 4For MordecaiH4782 was greatH1419 in the king’sH4428 houseH1004, and his fame wentH1980 forth throughout all the provincesH4082; for the manH376 MordecaiH4782 waxed greaterH1419 and greaterH1419. 5And the JewsH3064 smote all their enemiesH341 with the stroke of the swordH2719, and with slaughterH4347 and destruction, and did what they would unto them that hatedH8130 them. 6And in Shushan the palace the JewsH3064 slewH2026 and destroyedH6 fiveH2568 hundredH3967 menH376. 7And Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha, 8and Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha, 9and Parmashta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vaizatha, 10the tenH6235 sonsH1121 of HamanH2001 the sonH1121 of Hammedatha, the Jews’H3064 enemy, slewH2026 they; but on the spoil they laid not their handH3027.

11On that dayH3117 the numberH4557 of those that were slainH2026 in Shushan the palace was broughtH935 before the kingH4428. 12And the kingH4428 saidH559 unto EstherH635 the queenH4436, The JewsH3064 have slainH2026 and destroyedH6 fiveH2568 hundredH3967 menH376 in Shushan the palace, and the tenH6235 sonsH1121 of HamanH2001; what then have they done in the restH7605 of the king’sH4428 provincesH4082! Now what is thy petitionH7596? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy requestH1246 further? and it shall be done. 13Then saidH559 EstherH635, If it please the kingH4428, let it be granted to the JewsH3064 that are in Shushan to do to-morrow alsoH1571 according unto this day’sH3117 decree, and let Haman’s tenH6235 sonsH1121 be hangedH8518 upon the gallowsH6086. 14And the kingH4428 commanded it soH3651 to be done: and a decree was givenH5414 out in Shushan; and they hangedH8518 Haman’s tenH6235 sonsH1121. 15And the JewsH3064 that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth dayH3117 alsoH1571 of the monthH2320 AdarH143, and slewH2026 threeH7969 hundredH3967 menH376 in Shushan; but on the spoil they laid not their handH3027. 16And the other JewsH3064 that were in the king’sH4428 provincesH4082 gathered themselves together, and stoodH5975 for their livesH5315, and had restH7605 from their enemiesH341, and slewH2026 of them that hatedH8130 them seventyH7657 and fiveH2568 thousandH505; but on the spoil they laid not their handH3027.

17This was doneon the thirteenth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 AdarH143; and on the fourteenth dayH3117 of the same they restedH5117, and madeH6213 it a dayH3117 of feastingH4960 and gladnessH8057. 18But the JewsH3064 that were in Shushan assembledH6950 togetherH6950 on the thirteenth dayH3117 thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth dayH3117 of the same they restedH5117, and madeH6213 it a dayH3117 of feastingH4960 and gladnessH8057. 19ThereforeH3651 do the JewsH3064 of the villages, that dwellH3427 in the unwalled towns, makeH6213 the fourteenth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 AdarH143 a dayH3117 of gladnessH8057 and feastingH4960, and a goodH2896 dayH3117, and of sendingH4916 portionsH4490 oneH376 to another.
