Revised Version 1895
Jeremiah 9:2-9
Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging placeH7198 of wayfaring men; that I might leaveH3318 my peopleH3808, and goH3318 from them! for they be allH3045 adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
And they bend their tongue as it were their bow for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but notH408 for truth: for they proceedH1980 from evil to evil, and they know notH408 meH5921, saith the LORD.
Take ye heed everyH376 one of his neighbour, and trust ye notH3808 in anyH376 brother: for everyH376 brother will utterly supplant, and everyH376 neighbour will go aboutH1696 with slanders.
And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will notH3045 speak the truth: they have taughtH3045 their tongue to speak liesH4820; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.
Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; throughH3651 deceit they refuse to know meH6440, saith the LORDH3068.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for howH7965 elseH7453 should I do, because of the daughter of my peopleH1696?
Their tongue is a deadlyH5315 arrow; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouthH5315, but in his heartH5315 he layeth wait for him.
Shall I notH3808 visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall notH3808 my soul be avenged on suchH3808 a nation as this?
