Isaiah 65
Revised Version 1895
1I AM inquiredH7592 of by them that askedH7592 notH3808 for meH413; I am foundH4672 of them that soughtH1245 meH413 notH3808: I saidH559, BeholdH2005 meH413, beholdH2005 meH413, unto a nationH1471 that was notH3808 calledH7121 by my nameH8034. 2I have spreadH6566 outH413 my handsH3027 allH3605 the dayH3117 unto a rebelliousH5637 peopleH5971, which walketh in a wayH1870 that is notH3808 goodH2896, afterH310 their own thoughtsH4284; 3a peopleH5971 that provoketh meH6440 to my faceH6440 continuallyH8548, sacrificingH2076 in gardensH1593, and burningH6999 incenseH6999 uponH5921 bricksH3843; 4which sitH3427 among the gravesH6913, and lodge in the secretH5341 placesH5341; which eatH398 swine’sH2386 fleshH1320, and broth of abominable things is in their vesselsH3627; 5whichH428 sayH559, StandH5066 by thyself, comeH7126 notH408 nearH7126 to meH413, for I am holierH6942 thanH3605 thou: theseH428 are a smokeH6227 in my noseH639, a fireH784 that burneth allH3605 the dayH3117. 6BeholdH2009, it is writtenH3789 beforeH6440 meH6440: I will notH3808 keepH2814 silence, but will recompense, yeaH3588, I will recompense intoH5921 their bosomH2436, 7your own iniquitiesH5771, and the iniquitiesH5771 of your fathersH1 togetherH3162, saith the LORDH3068, whichH834 have burnedH6999 incenseH6999 uponH5921 the mountainsH2022, and blasphemed meH5921 uponH5921 the hillsH1389: therefore will I firstH7223 measureH4058 their workH6468 intoH5921 their bosomH2436. 8ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, As the newH8492 wineH8492 is foundH4672 in the clusterH811, and one saith, DestroyH7843 it notH408, for a blessingH1293 is in it: soH3651 will I doH6213 for my servants’H5650 sakes, that I may notH408 destroyH7843 them allH3605. 9And I will bringH3318 forthH3318 a seedH2233 outH3318 of JacobH3290, and outH3318 of JudahH3063 an inheritor of my mountainsH2022: and my chosenH972 shall inheritH3423 it, and my servantsH5650 shall dwellH7931 there. 10And SharonH8289 shall be a fold of flocksH6629, and the valleyH6010 of AchorH5911 a placeH1961 for herdsH1241 to lieH1961 down in, for my peopleH5971 that have soughtH1875 meH1875. 11But ye that forsakeH5800 the LORDH3068, that forgetH7911 my holyH6944 mountainH2022, that prepareH6186 a tableH7979 for Fortune, and that fillH4390 upH853 mingled wineH4469 unto DestinyH4507; 12I will destineH4487 youH834 to the swordH2719, and ye shall allH3605 bowH3766 downH3766 to the slaughterH2874: becauseH3282 when I calledH7121, ye didH6213 notH3808 answerH6030; when I spake, ye didH6213 notH3808 hearH8085; but ye didH6213 that whichH834 was evilH7451 in mine eyesH5869, and choseH977 that whereinH834 I delighted notH3808. 13Therefore thusH3541 saith the LordH136 GODH136, BeholdH2009, my servantsH5650 shall eatH398, but ye shall be hungryH7456: beholdH2009, my servantsH5650 shall drinkH8354, but ye shall be thirstyH6770: beholdH2009, my servantsH5650 shall rejoiceH8055, but ye shall be ashamedH954: 14beholdH2009, my servantsH5650 shall singH7442 for joyH7442 of heartH3820, but ye shall cryH6817 for sorrowH3511 of heartH3820, and shall howlH3213 for vexation of spiritH7307. 15And ye shall leaveH3240 your nameH8034 for a curseH7621 unto my chosenH972, and the LordH136 GODH136 shall slayH4191 thee; and he shall callH7121 his servantsH5650 by anotherH312 nameH8034: 16soH834 that he who blesseth himself in the earthH776 shall blessH1288 himself in the GodH430 of truthH543; and he that sweareth in the earthH776 shall swearH7650 by the GodH430 of truthH543; becauseH3588 the formerH7223 troubles are forgottenH7911, and becauseH3588 they are hidH5641 from mine eyesH5869. 17For, beholdH2005, I createH1254 newH2319 heavensH8064 and a newH2319 earthH776: and the formerH7223 things shall notH3808 be rememberedH2142, norH3808 comeH5927 intoH5921 mindH3820. 18But be ye gladH7797 and rejoiceH1523 for everH5703 in that whichH834 I createH1254: for, beholdH2005, I createH1254 JerusalemH3389 a rejoicingH1525, and herH518 peopleH5971 a joyH4885. 19And I will rejoiceH1523 in JerusalemH3389, and joy in my peopleH5971: and the voiceH6963 of weepingH1065 shall be noH3808 moreH5750 heardH8085 in herH8085, norH3808 the voiceH6963 of cryingH1065. 20There shall be noH3808 moreH5750 thence an infantH5764 of daysH3117, norH3808 an oldH1121 manH5288 that hath notH3808 filledH4390 his daysH3117: for the childH5288 shall dieH4191 an hundredH3967 yearsH8141 oldH1121, and the sinnerH2398 beingH1961 an hundredH3967 yearsH8141 oldH1121 shall be accursedH7043. 21And they shall buildH1129 housesH1004, and inhabitH3427 them; and they shall plantH5193 vineyardsH3754, and eatH398 the fruitH6529 of them. 22They shall notH3808 buildH1129, and anotherH312 inhabitH3427; they shall notH3808 plantH5193, and anotherH312 eatH398: for as the daysH3117 of a treeH6086 shall be the daysH3117 of my peopleH5971, and my chosenH972 shall longH3117 enjoy the workH4639 of their handsH3027. 23They shall notH3808 labour in vain, norH3808 bringH3205 forthH3205 for calamityH928; for they are the seedH2233 of the blessedH1288 of the LORDH3068, and their offspringH2233 with them. 24And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961 that, beforeH2962 they callH7121, I will answerH6030; and whileH5750 they are yet speakingH1696, I will hearH8085. 25The wolfH2061 and the lambH2924 shall feedH398 togetherH259, and the lionH738 shall eatH398 strawH8401 like the oxH1241: and dustH6083 shall be the serpent’sH5175 meat. They shall notH3808 hurt norH3808 destroyH7843 in allH3605 my holyH6944 mountainH2022, saith the LORDH3068.
