Revised Version 1895
Samuel 1:9-18
SoH6965 HannahH2584 roseH6965 upH6965 afterH310 they had eatenH398 in ShilohH7887, and afterH310 they had drunkH8354. NowH310 EliH5941 the priestH3548 satH3427 uponH5921 his seatH3678 by the doorH4201 postH4201 of the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068.
And sheH1931 was in bitternessH4751 of soulH5315, and prayedH6419 unto the LORDH3068, and weptH1058 sore.
And sheH518 vowedH5087 a vowH5088, and saidH559, O LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, ifH518 thou wilt indeedH518 lookH7200 on the affliction of thine handmaidH519, and rememberH2142 meH5414, and notH3808 forgetH7911 thine handmaidH519, but wilt giveH5414 unto thine handmaidH519 a manH376 childH2233, then I will giveH5414 him unto the LORDH3068 allH3605 the daysH3117 of his lifeH3117, and there shall noH3808 razor comeH5927 uponH5921 his headH7218.
And it cameH1961 to passH1961, as sheH3588 continuedH1961 prayingH6419 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, that EliH5941 marked herH1961 mouthH6310.
NowH8085 HannahH2584, sheH1931 spake in herH5921 heartH3820; onlyH7535 herH5921 lipsH8193 moved, but herH5921 voiceH6963 was notH3808 heardH8085: therefore EliH5941 thoughtH3820 sheH1931 had been drunkenH7910.
And EliH5941 saidH559 unto herH413, HowH4970 longH5704 wilt thou be drunken? putH5493 awayH5493 thy wineH3196 from thee.
And HannahH2584 answeredH559 and saidH559, NoH3808, my lordH3068, I am a womanH802 of a sorrowful spiritH7307: I have drunkH8354 neitherH3808 wineH3196 norH3808 strongH7941 drinkH8354, but I pouredH8210 outH8210 my soulH5315 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068.
Count notH408 thine handmaidH519 for a daughterH1323 of Belial: for outH6440 of the abundanceH7230 of my complaintH7879 and my provocation have I spokenH1696 hitherto.
Then EliH5941 answeredH559 and saidH559, Go in peaceH7965: and the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 grantH5414 thy petitionH7596 that thou hast askedH7592 of him.
And sheH3808 saidH559, LetH1961 thy servantH8198 findH4672 graceH2580 in thy sightH5869. SoH1961 the womanH802 wentH6440 herH802 wayH1870, and didH3808 eatH398, and herH802 countenanceH6440 was noH3808 moreH5750 sad.
