2And it came to pass, when Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֣םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֗טne.VatH5028,who was yet in Egyptבְמִצְרַ֔יִםve.mitz.Ra.yimH4714,heardכִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ׀kish.Mo.a'H8085of it, (for he was fledבָּרַ֔חba.RachH1272from the presenceמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH6440of kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֑הshe.lo.MohH8010,and Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379dweltוַיֵּ֥שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in Egyptבְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃be.mitz.Ra.yimH4714;)

3That they sentוַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙vai.yish.le.ChuH7971and calledוַיִּקְרְאוּ־vai.yik.re.'u-H7121him. And Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379and all the congregationקְהַ֣לke.HalH6951of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478cameוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.vo.'u'H935,and spakeוַֽיְדַבְּר֔וּvay.da.be.RuH1696unto Rehoboamרְחַבְעָ֖םre.chav.'AmH7346,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

4Thy fatherאָבִ֖יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1madeH7185our yokeעֻלֵּ֑נוּ'u.Le.nuH5923grievousH7185:now therefore make thou the grievousהַקָּשָׁ֗הha.ka.ShahH7186serviceמֵעֲבֹדַ֨תme.'a.vo.DatH5656of thy fatherאָבִ֜יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1,and his heavyהַכָּבֵ֛דha.ka.VedH3515yokeוּמֵעֻלּ֧וֹu.me.'u.LoH5923which he putנָתַ֥ןna.TanH5414upon us, lighterהָקֵל֩ha.KelH7043,and we will serveוְנַעַבְדֶֽךָּ׃ve.na.'av.De.kaH5647thee.

5And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, DepartH3212yet forthreeשְׁלֹשָׁ֥הshe.lo.ShahH7969daysיָמִ֖יםya.MimH3117,then come againוְשׁ֣וּבוּve.Shu.vuH7725to me. And the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971departedH3212.

6And kingהַמֶּ֣לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428Rehoboamרְחַבְעָ֗םre.chav.'AmH7346consultedוַיִּוָּעַ֞ץvai.yi.va.'AtzH3289with the old menהַזְּקֵנִים֙ha.ze.ke.NimH2205,that stoodעֹמְדִ֗ים'o.me.DimH5975beforeפְּנֵי֙pe.NeiH6440Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֣הshe.lo.MohH8010his fatherאָבִ֔יו'a.VivH1while he yet livedחַ֖יchaiH2416,and saidלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,How do ye adviseנֽוֹעָצִ֔יםno.'a.TzimH3289that I mayלְהָשִׁ֥יבle.ha.ShivH7725answerדָּבָֽר׃da.VarH1697this peopleהָֽעָם־ha.'om-H5971?

7And they spakeוַיְדַבְּר֨וּvay.da.berH1696unto him, sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,If thou wilt be a servantעֶ֜בֶד'E.vedH5650unto this peopleלָעָ֤םla.'AmH5971this dayהַ֠יּוֹםHai.yomH3117,and wilt serveוַֽעֲבַדְתָּ֔םva.'a.vad.TamH5647them, and answerוַעֲנִיתָ֕םva.'a.ni.TamH6030them, and speakוְדִבַּרְתָּ֥ve.di.bar.TaH1696goodטוֹבִ֑יםto.VimH2896wordsדְּבָרִ֣יםde.va.RimH1697to them, then they will be thy servantsעֲבָדִ֖ים'a.va.DimH5650for everהַיָּמִֽים׃hai.ya.MimH3117.

12So Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֧םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379and all the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971cameוַיָּב֨וֹאvai.ya.vov'H935to Rehoboamרְחַבְעָ֖םre.chav.'AmH7346the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑יha.she.li.ShiH7992dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117,as the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428had appointedדִּבֶּ֤רdi.BerH1696,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,Come to me againשׁ֥וּבוּShu.vuH7725the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִֽׁי׃ha.she.li.ShiH7992dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117.

13And the kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428answeredוַיַּ֧עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971roughlyקָשָׁ֑הka.ShahH7186,and forsookוַֽיַּעֲזֹ֛בvai.ya.'a.ZoH5800the old men’sהַזְּקֵנִ֖יםha.ze.ke.NimH2205counselעֲצַ֥ת'a.TzatH6098that they gaveיְעָצֻֽהוּ׃ye.'a.Tzu.huH3289him;

20And it came to pass, when all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478heardכִּשְׁמֹ֤עַkish.Mo.a'H8085that Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֔םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379was come againשָׁ֣בshavH7725,that they sentוַֽיִּשְׁלְח֗וּvai.yish.le.ChuH7971and calledוַיִּקְרְא֤וּvai.yik.re.'UH7121him unto the congregationהָ֣עֵדָ֔הha.'e.DahH5712,and made him kingוַיַּמְלִ֥יכוּvai.yam.Li.khuH4427over all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478:there was none that followedאַחֲרֵ֣י'a.cha.ReiH310the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732,butזוּלָתִ֥יzu.la.TiH2108the tribeשֵֽׁבֶט־she.vet-H7626of Judahיְהוּדָ֖הye.hu.DahH3063only.
