God Answers the Prophet

I will 1standH5975 at my guardH4931 postH4931 And stationH3320 myself on the watchtowerH4692; And I will 2keepH6822 watchH6822 to seeH7200 3whatH4100 He will sayH1696 to me, And howH4100 I may replyH7725 4whenH5921 I am reprimandedH8433.2Then the LordH3068 answeredH6030 me and saidH559, “5WriteH3789 downH3789 the visionH2377 And inscribeH874 it clearlyH874 on tabletsH3871, SoH4616 thatH4616 one who 6readsH7121 it may runH7323.3For the visionH2377 is yetH5750 for the 7appointedH4150 timeH4150; It 8hurriesH6315 toward the goalH7093 and it will not 9failH3576. ThoughH518 it delaysH4102, 10waitH2442 for it; For it will certainlyH935 comeH935, it 11will not delayH309 long.

“BeholdH2009, as for the 12impudentH6075 one, His soulH5315 isH3474 not rightH3474 within him; But the 13righteousH6662 oneH6662 will liveH2421 by his 14faithH530.5FurthermoreH637, 15wineH3196 betraysH898 an 16arrogantH3093 manH1397, So that he does not 17achieveH5115 his objectiveH5115. He 18enlargesH7337 his appetiteH5315 like SheolH7585, And he is like deathH4194, neverH3808 satisfiedH7646. He also gathersH622 to himself allH3605 the nationsH1471 And collectsH622 to himself allH3605 the peoplesH5971.

“Will allH3605 of theseH428 not 19takeH5375 upH5375 a songH4912 ofH4912 ridiculeH4912 againstH5921 him, Even a sayingH4426 and insinuationsH2420 against him And sayH559, ‘20WoeH1945 to him who increasesH7235 what is not his-- For howH4970 longH5704H4970-- And makesH3513 himself 21richH3513 with debtsH5671!’7Will 22your creditorsH5391 not 23riseH6965 upH6965 suddenlyH6621, And those who 24collectH2111 from you awakenH3364? Indeed, you will becomeH1961 plunderH4933 for them.8SinceH3588 you have 25lootedH7997 manyH7227 nationsH1471, AllH3605 the restH3499 of the peoplesH5971 will lootH7997 you-- BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and violenceH2555 26done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.

“WoeH1945 to him who makesH1214 27evilH7451 profitH1215 for his householdH1004, To 28putH7760 his nestH7064 on highH4791, To be savedH5337 from the handH3709 of catastropheH7451!10You have plannedH3289 a 29shamefulH1322 thingH1322 for your houseH1004 By bringingH7096 manyH7227 peoplesH5971 toH7096 anH7096 endH7096; So you are 30sinningH2398 against yourselfH5315.11For the 31stoneH68 will cryH2199 outH2199 from the wallH7023, And the rafterH3714 will answerH6030 it from the 32frameworkH6086.

“WoeH1945 to him who 33buildsH1129 a cityH5892 with bloodshedH1818, And foundsH3559 a townH7151 with 34violenceH5767!13Is it not indeedH2009 from the LordH3068 of armiesH6635 That peoplesH5971 35laborH3021 merely for fireH784, And nationsH3816 becomeH3286 wearyH3286 for nothingH7385?14For the earthH776 will be 36filledH4390 With the knowledgeH3045 of the gloryH3519 of the LordH3068, As the watersH4325 coverH3680 the seaH3220.

“WoeH1945 to him who makesH8248 his neighborH7453 drinkH8248; 37To you who mixH5596 in your venomH2534 evenH637 to makeH7937 your neighbors drunkH7937, SoH4616 asH4616 to lookH5027 at their genitaliaH4589!16You will be filledH7646 with disgraceH7036 ratherH4480 thanH4480 honorH3519. 38DrinkH8354, you yourselfH1571, and 39exposeH6188 your own foreskinH6188! The 40cupH3563 in the Lord’sH3068 rightH3225 handH3225 will comeH5437 aroundH5437 to you, And 41utterH7022 disgraceH7022 will come upon your gloryH3519.17For the 42violenceH2555 43done to LebanonH3844 will 44overwhelmH3680 you, And the devastationH7701 of its animalsH929 45by which you terrifiedH2865 them, 46BecauseH4480 of humanH120 bloodshedH1818 and 47violenceH2555 48done to the landH776, To the townH7151 and allH3605 its inhabitantsH3427.

“WhatH4100 49benefitH3276 is a carvedH6459 imageH6459 whenH3588 its makerH3335 has carvedH6458 it, Or a castH4541 metalH4541 imageH4541, a 50teacherH3384 of falsehoodH8267? For its makerH3335 51trustsH982 in his own handiworkH3336 When he fashionsH6213 speechlessH483 idolsH457.19WoeH1945 to him who 52saysH559 to a piece of woodH6086, ‘53AwakeH7019!’ To a muteH1748 stoneH68, ‘AriseH5782!’ That is your teacherH3384? BeholdH2009, it is overlaidH8610 with 54goldH2091 and silverH3701, Yet thereH369 isH369 55noH369 breathH7307 at allH3605 insideH7130 it.20But the 56LordH3068 is in His holyH6944 templeH1964. 57Let allH3605 the earthH776 58be silentH2013 beforeH4480H6440 Him.”
