Romans 6:9-23
9knowing that Christ, having been 1raised from the dead, 2is never to die again; 3death no longer is master over Him. 10For 4the death that He died, He died to sin once for all time; but 5the life that He lives, He lives to 6God. 11So you too, consider yourselves to be 7dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Therefore sin is not to 8reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 9presenting 10the parts of your body to sin as 11instruments of unrighteousness; but 12present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and 13your body’s parts as 14instruments of righteousness for God. 14For 15sin shall not 16be master over you, for 17you are not under 18the Law but 19under grace.
15What then? 20Are we to sin because we are not under 21the Law but under grace? 2223Far from it! 16Do you not 24know that the one to whom you present yourselves as 25slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of 26sin 27resulting in death, or of obedience 28resulting in righteousness? 17But 29thanks be to God that 30though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 3132form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18and after being 33freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness. 1934I am speaking 35in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 36as you presented 37the parts of your body as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 38resulting in further lawlessness, so now present 39your body’s parts as slaves to righteousness, 40resulting in sanctification.
20For 41when you were slaves of sin, you were free in relation to righteousness. 21Therefore what 4243benefit were you then 44deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 45death. 22But now having been 46freed from sin and 47enslaved to God, you 48derive your 4950benefit, 51resulting in sanctification, and 52the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of 53sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is 54eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
