Proverbs 15:16-33

161Better is a little with 2the fear of the Lord Than great treasure, and turmoil with 3the treasure.174Better is a portion of 5vegetables where there is love, Than a 6fattened ox served with hatred.18A 7hot-tempered person stirs up strife, But the 8slow to anger 9calms a dispute.19The way of the 10lazy one is like a hedge of thorns, But the path of the upright is a highway.20A 11wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish man 12despises his mother.21Foolishness is joy to one who lacks 13sense, But a person of understanding 14walks straight.22Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they 15succeed.23A 16person has joy in an 17apt answer, And how delightful is a timely 18word!24The 19path of life leads upward for the wise, So that he may keep away from 20Sheol below.25The Lord will 21tear down the house of the proud, But He will 22set the boundary of the 23widow.26Evil plans are an abomination to the Lord, But pleasant words are pure.27He who 24profits illicitly troubles his own house, But he who 25hates bribes will live.28The heart of the righteous 26ponders how to answer, But the 27mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.29The Lord is 28far from the wicked, But He 29hears the prayer of the righteous.3030Bright eyes gladden the heart; Good news 31refreshes the bones.31One whose ear listens to a life-giving rebuke Will stay among the wise.32One who 32neglects discipline 33rejects himself, But one who 34listens to a rebuke acquires 35understanding.3336The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility.
