Context of Job 21:29
27“Behold, I know your thoughts, And the plots you devise against me. 28For you say, ‘Where is the house of the nobleman, And where is the tent, the dwelling places of the wicked?’ Have you not asked travelers, And do you not examine their evidence? 30For the wicked person is spared a day of disaster; They are led away from a day of fury. 31Who confronts him with his actions, And who repays him for what he has done?

Information was obtained in ancient times by careful observation, and by…Read the comment

Turn to whom you will, you will find that the punishment of sinners is designed more for the other world than for this, Jude 1:14, 15. The sinner is here supposed to live in a great deal of power. The sinner shall have a splendid funeral: a poor thing for any man…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 2929. Job, seeing that the friends will not admit him as an impartial judge, as they consider his calamities prove his guilt, begs them to ask the opinion of travellers (La 1:12), who have the experience drawn from observation, and who are no way connected with him. Job opposes this to Bildad (Job 8:8) and Zophar (Job 20:4). tokens--rather, "intimations" (for example, inscriptions, proverbs, signifying the results of their observation), testimony…Read the comment
