Isaiah 7:1-4

1Now it came about in the days of 1Ahaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that 2Rezin the king of Aram and 3Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but 4could not 5conquer it. 2When it was reported to the 6house of David, saying, “The Arameans 7have taken a stand by 8Ephraim,” his heart and the hearts of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake from the wind.

3Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son 9Shear-jashub, at the end of the 10conduit of the upper pool, on the road to the 11fuller’s field, 4and say to him, ‘Take care and be 12calm, have no 13fear and 14do not be fainthearted because of these two stumps of smoldering 15logs, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the 16son of Remaliah.
