Genesis 48:9-14

And Joseph said to his father, “1They are my sons, whom God has given me here.” So he said, “Bring them to me, please, so that 2I may bless them.”

Now 3the eyes of Israel were so 4dim from age that he could not see. And 5Joseph brought them close to him, and he 6kissed them and embraced them.

And Israel said to Joseph, “I never 7expected to see your face, and behold, God has let me see your 8children as well!”

Then Joseph 9took them from his knees, and 10bowed with his face to the ground.

And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel’s left, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right, and brought them close to him.

But Israel reached out his right hand and placed it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, crossing his hands, although 11Manasseh was the firstborn.
