Exodus 2:15-22
15When Pharaoh heard about this matter, he tried to kill Moses. But 1Moses fled from the presence of Pharaoh and 2settled in the land of Midian, and he sat down 3by a well.
16Now 4the priest of Midian had seven daughters; and 5they came to draw water and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock. 17Then the shepherds came and drove them away, but 6Moses stood up and helped them and watered their flock. 18When they came to their father 7Reuel, he said, “Why have you come back so soon today?” 19They said, “An Egyptian saved us from 8the shepherds, and what is more, he even drew water for us and watered the flock.” 20So he said to his daughters, “Where is he then? Why is it that you have left the man behind? Invite him 9to have something to eat.” 21And 10Moses was willing to live with the man. And he gave his daughter 11Zipporah to Moses. 22Then she gave birth to 12a son, and he named him 13Gershom, for he said, “I have been 14a stranger in a foreign land.”
