Ephesians 4:4-32

4There is 1one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one 2hope of your calling; 53one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and Father of all 4who is over all and through all and in all.

7But 5to each one of us 6grace was given 7according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8Therefore 8it says, “9When He ascended on high, He 10led captive the captives, And He gave gifts to people.” 9(Now this expression, “He 11ascended,” what 12does it mean except that He also 13had descended into 14the lower parts of the earth? 10He who descended is Himself also He who ascended 15far above all the heavens, so that He might 16fill all things.) 11And He 17gave 18some as apostles, some as prophets, some as 19evangelists, some as 20pastors and 21teachers, 1222for the equipping of the 23saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of 24the body of Christ; 13until we all attain to 25the unity of the faith, and of the 2627knowledge of the Son of God, to a 28mature man, to the measure of the stature 29which belongs to the 30fullness of Christ. 1431As a result, we are 32no longer to be children, 33tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by 34craftiness 35in 36deceitful scheming; 15but 37speaking the truth 38in love, 39we are to 40grow up in all aspects into Him who is the 41head, that is, Christ, 16from whom 42the whole body, being fitted and held together 43by what every joint supplies, according to the 44proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself 45in love.

1746So I say this, and affirm in the Lord, 47that you are to no longer walk just as the 48Gentiles also walk, in the 49futility of their minds, 18being 50darkened in their understanding, 5152excluded from the life of God because of the 53ignorance that is in them, because of the 54hardness of their heart; 19and they, having 55become callous, 56have given themselves up to 57indecent behavior 58for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. 20But you did not 59learn Christ in this way, 21if indeed you 60have heard Him and have 61been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to 62rid yourselves of the 63old 64self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the 65lusts of deceit, 23and that you are to be 66renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24and to 67put on the 68new 69self, which 7071in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

25Therefore, 72ridding yourselves of falsehood, 73speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, because we are 74parts of one another. 2675Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27and do not 76give the devil 77an opportunity. 28The one who steals must no longer steal; but rather 78he must labor, 79producing with his own hands what is good, 80so that he will have something to share with the one who has need. 29Let no 8182unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for 83edification 84according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 3085Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, 86by whom you were 87sealed for the day of redemption. 3188All bitterness, wrath, anger, 89clamor, and slander must be 90removed from you, along with all 91malice. 3292Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, 93just as God in Christ also has forgiven 94you.
