Ephesians 4:4-32
4There is 1one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one 2hope of your calling; 53one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and Father of all 4who is over all and through all and in all.
7But 5to each one of us 6grace was given 7according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8Therefore 8it says, “9When He ascended on high, He 10led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.” 9(Now this expression, “He 11ascended,” what 12does it mean except that He also 13had descended into 14the lower parts of the earth? 10He who descended is Himself also He who ascended 15far above all the heavens, so that He might 16fill all things.) 11And He 17gave 18some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as 19evangelists, and some as pastors and 20teachers, 1221for the equipping of the 22saints for the work of service, to the building up of 23the body of Christ; 13until we all attain to 24the unity of the faith, and of the 2526knowledge of the Son of God, to a 27mature man, to the measure of the stature 28which belongs to the 29fullness of Christ. 1430As a result, we are 31no longer to be children, 32tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by 33craftiness 34in 35deceitful scheming; 15but 36speaking the truth 37in love, 38we are to 39grow up in all aspects into Him who is the 40head, even Christ, 16from whom 41the whole body, being fitted and held together 42by what every joint supplies, according to the 43proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself 44in love.
1745So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, 46that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the 47futility of their mind, 18being 48darkened in their understanding, 4950excluded from the life of God because of the 51ignorance that is in them, because of the 52hardness of their heart; 19and they, having 53become callous, 54have given themselves over to 55sensuality 56for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. 20But you did not 57learn 58Christ in this way, 21if indeed you 59have heard Him and have 60been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22that, in reference to your former manner of life, you 61lay aside the 62old 63self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the 64lusts of deceit, 23and that you be 65renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24and 66put on the 67new 68self, which 6970in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
25Therefore, 71laying aside falsehood, 72speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are 73members of one another. 2674Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27and do not 75give the devil 76an opportunity. 28He who steals must steal no longer; but rather 77he must labor, 78performing with his own hands what is good, 79so that he will have something to share with 80one who has need. 29Let no 8182unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for 83edification 84according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 3085Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, 86by whom you were 87sealed for the day of redemption. 3188Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be 89put away from you, along with all 90malice. 3291Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, 92just as God in Christ also has forgiven 93you.
