2 Corinthians 11:8-33

8I robbed other churches by 1taking wages from them to serve you; 9and when I was present with you and was in need, I was 2not a burden to anyone; for when 3the brothers came from 4Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from 5being a burden to you, 6and will continue to do so. 107As the truth of Christ is in me, 8this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of 9Achaia. 11Why? 10Because I do not love you? 11God knows that I do!

12But what I am doing I will also continue to do, 12so that I may eliminate the opportunity from those who want an opportunity to be 13regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. 13For such men are 14false apostles, 15deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14No wonder, for even 16Satan disguises himself as an 17angel of light. 15Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, 18whose end will be according to their deeds.

1619Again I say, let no one think me foolish; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. 17What I am saying, I am not saying 2021as the Lord would, but as 22in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. 18Since 23many boast 24according to the flesh, I will boast also. 19For you, 25being so wise, tolerate the foolish gladly. 20For you tolerate it if anyone 26enslaves you, if anyone 27devours you, if anyone 28takes advantage of you, if anyone 29exalts himself, if anyone 30hits you in the face. 21To my 31shame I must say that we have been 32weak by comparison.

But in whatever respect anyone else 33is bold--I am 34speaking in foolishness--I too am bold. 22Are they 35Hebrews? 36So am I. Are they 37Israelites? 38So am I. Are they 3940descendants of Abraham? 41So am I. 23Are they 42servants of Christ?--I am speaking as if insane--I more so; in 43far more labors, in 44far more imprisonments, 4546beaten times without number, often in danger of 47death. 24Five times I received from the Jews 48thirty-nine lashes. 25Three times I was 49beaten with rods, once I was 50stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea. 26I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my 51countrymen, dangers from the 52Gentiles, dangers in the 53city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among 54false brothers; 27I have been in 55labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in 56hunger and thirst, often 57without food, in cold and 5859exposure. 28Apart from such 60external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for 61all the churches. 29Who is 62weak without my being weak? Who is 63led into sin 64without my intense concern?

30If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my 65weakness. 31The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, 66He who is blessed forever, 67knows that I am not lying. 32In 68Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was 69guarding the city of the Damascenes in order to seize me, 33and I was let down in a basket 70through a window 71in the wall, and so escaped his hands.
