2 Corinthians 11:16-33

161Again I say, let no one think me foolish; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. 17What I am saying, I am not saying 23as the Lord would, but as 4in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. 18Since 5many boast 6according to the flesh, I will boast also. 19For you, 7being so wise, tolerate the foolish gladly. 20For you tolerate it if anyone 8enslaves you, if anyone 9devours you, if anyone 10takes advantage of you, if anyone 11exalts himself, if anyone 12hits you in the face. 21To my 13shame I must say that we have been 14weak by comparison.

But in whatever respect anyone else 15is bold--I am 16speaking in foolishness--I too am bold. 22Are they 17Hebrews? 18So am I. Are they 19Israelites? 20So am I. Are they 2122descendants of Abraham? 23So am I. 23Are they 24servants of Christ?--I am speaking as if insane--I more so; in 25far more labors, in 26far more imprisonments, 2728beaten times without number, often in danger of 29death. 24Five times I received from the Jews 30thirty-nine lashes. 25Three times I was 31beaten with rods, once I was 32stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea. 26I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my 33countrymen, dangers from the 34Gentiles, dangers in the 35city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among 36false brothers; 27I have been in 37labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in 38hunger and thirst, often 39without food, in cold and 4041exposure. 28Apart from such 42external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for 43all the churches. 29Who is 44weak without my being weak? Who is 45led into sin 46without my intense concern?

30If I have to boast, I will boast of what pertains to my 47weakness. 31The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, 48He who is blessed forever, 49knows that I am not lying. 32In 50Damascus the ethnarch under Aretas the king was 51guarding the city of the Damascenes in order to seize me, 33and I was let down in a basket 52through a window 53in the wall, and so escaped his hands.
