1 John 3:3-17
3And everyone who has this 1hope set on Him 2purifies himself, just as He is pure.
4Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and 3sin is lawlessness. 5You know that He 4appeared in order to 5take away sins; and 6in Him there is no sin. 6No one who remains in Him 7sins continually; no one who sins continually has seen Him or 89knows Him. 710Little children, make sure no one 11deceives you; 12the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8the one who practices sin is 13of the devil; for the devil 14has been sinning from the beginning. 15The Son of God 16appeared for this purpose, 17to destroy the works of the devil. 9No one who has been 18born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God. 10By this the 19children of God and the 20children of the devil are obvious: 21anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who 22does not love his 23brother and sister.
1124For this is the message 25which you have heard from the beginning, 26that we are to love one another; 12not as 27Cain, who was of 28the evil one and murdered his brother. And for what reason did he murder him? Because 29his own deeds were evil, but his brother’s were righteous.
13Do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if 30the world hates you. 14We know that we have 31passed out of death into life, 32because we love the brothers and sisters. The one who does not love remains in death. 15Everyone who 33hates his brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that 34no murderer has eternal life remaining in him. 16We know love by this, that 35He laid down His life for us; and 36we ought to lay down our lives for the 37brothers and sisters. 17But 38whoever has worldly goods and sees his brother or sister in need, and 39closes his 40heart 41against him, 42how does the love of God remain in him?
