Judges 7:2-7
2The LordH3068 saidH559 to GideonH1439, “The peopleH5971 whoH834 are with you are tooH4480 manyH7227 for Me to giveH5414 MidianH4080 into their handsH3027, 1for IsraelH3478 2would becomeH6286 boastfulH6286, sayingH559, ‘My own 3powerH3027 has deliveredH3467 me.’ 3NowH6258 therefore 4comeH4994, proclaimH7121 in the hearingH241 of the peopleH5971, sayingH559, ‘5WhoeverH4310 is afraidH3372 and tremblingH2730, let him returnH7725 and departH6852 from MountH2022 GileadH1568.’” So 22,000H6242H8147H505 peopleH5971 returnedH7725, but 10,000H6235H505 remainedH7604.
46Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to GideonH1439, “The peopleH5971 are stillH5750 too manyH7227; bringH3381 them downH3381 to the waterH4325 and I will testH6884 them for you thereH8033. Therefore it shall be that he of whomH834 I sayH559 to you, ‘ThisH2088 oneH2088 shall goH1980 with you,’ he shall goH1980 with you; but everyoneH3605 of whomH834 I sayH559 to you, ‘ThisH2088 oneH2088 shall not goH1980 with you,’ he shall not goH1980.” 5So he broughtH3381 the peopleH5971 downH3381 to the waterH4325. And the LordH3068 saidH559 to GideonH1439, “You shall separateH905 everyoneH3605 whoH834 lapsH3952 the waterH4325 with his tongueH3956 as a dogH3611 lapsH3952, as well as everyoneH3605 whoH834 kneelsH1290H3766 to drinkH8354.” 6Now the numberH4557 of those who lappedH3952, putting their handH3027 to their mouthH6310, was 300H7969H3967 menH376; but allH3605 the restH3499 of the peopleH5971 kneeledH3766H1290 to drinkH8354 waterH4325. 7The LordH3068 saidH559 to GideonH1439, “I will deliverH3467 you 7with the 300H7969H3967 menH376 who lappedH3952 and will giveH5414 the MidianitesH4080 into your handsH3027; so let allH3605 the other peopleH5971 goH1980, eachH376 manH376 to his 8homeH4725.”
