9and saidH559 to the menH376, “1I knowH3045 that the LordH3068 has givenH5414 you the landH776, and that the 2terrorH367 of you has fallenH5307 on us, and that allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 have 3meltedH4127 awayH4127 beforeH4480H6440 you. 104For we have heardH8085 howH834 the LordH3068 driedH3001 up the waterH4325 of the 5RedH5488H3220 SeaH3220 beforeH4480H6440 you when you cameH3318 out of EgyptH4714, and 6whatH834 you didH6213 to the twoH8147 kingsH4428 of the AmoritesH567 whoH834 were beyondH5676 the JordanH3383, to SihonH5511 and OgH5747, whomH834 you 7utterlyH2763 destroyedH2763. 11When we heardH8085 it, 8our heartsH3824 meltedH4549 and noH3808 9courageH7307 remainedH6965 in anyH376 manH376 anyH5750 longerH5750 becauseH4480H6440 of you; for the 10LordH3068 your GodH430, He is GodH430 in heavenH8064 aboveH4480H4605 and on earthH776 beneathH4480H8478. 12NowH6258 therefore, pleaseH4994 swearH7650 to me by the LordH3068, sinceH3588 I have dealtH6213 kindlyH2617 with you, that you alsoH1571 will dealH6213 kindlyH2617 with my father’sH1 householdH1004, and giveH5414 me a 11pledgeH226 of 12truthH571, 13and 13spareH2421 my fatherH1 and my motherH517 and my brothersH251 and my sistersH269, with allH3605 whoH834 belong to them, and deliverH5337 our 14livesH5315 from deathH4194.” 14So the menH376 saidH559 to her, “Our 15lifeH5315 16for yours ifH518 you do not tellH5046 thisH2088 businessH1697 of ours; and it shall comeH1961 about when the LordH3068 givesH5414 us the landH776 that we will 17dealH6213 kindlyH2617 and 18faithfullyH571 with you.”

15Then she letH3381 them downH3381 by a ropeH2256 throughH1157 the windowH2474, for her houseH1004 was on the cityH7023 wallH2346, so that she was livingH3427 on the wallH2346. 16She saidH559 to them, “19GoH1980 to the hillH2022 countryH2022, soH6435 that the pursuersH7291 will not happenH6293 upon you, and hideH2247 yourselves thereH8033 for threeH7969 daysH3117 untilH5704 the pursuersH7291 returnH7725. Then afterwardH310 you may goH1980 on your wayH1870.” 17The menH376 saidH559 to her, “20We shall be freeH5355 from thisH2088 oathH7621 21to you whichH834 you have made us swearH7650, 1822unlessH2009, when we comeH935 into the landH776, you tieH7194 thisH2088 cordH8615 of scarletH8144 threadH2339 in the windowH2474 through whichH834 you letH3381 us downH3381, and 23gatherH622 to yourself into the houseH1004 your fatherH1 and your motherH517 and your brothersH251 and allH3605 your father’sH1 householdH1004. 19It shall comeH1961 about that anyoneH3605 whoH834 goesH3318 out of the doorsH1817 of your houseH1004 into the streetH2351, his bloodH1818 shall be on his own headH7218, and we shall be freeH5355; but anyoneH3605 whoH834 is with you in the houseH1004, 24his bloodH1818 shall be on our headH7218 ifH518 a handH3027 is laid on him. 20But ifH518 you tellH5046 thisH2088 businessH1697 of ours, then we shall be freeH5355 from the oathH7621 whichH834 you have made us swearH7650.” 21She saidH559, “According to your wordsH1697, soH3651 be it.” So she sentH7971 them awayH7971, and they departedH1980; and she tiedH7194 the scarletH8144 cordH8615 in the windowH2474.

22They departedH1980 and cameH935 to the hillH2022 countryH2022, and remainedH3427 thereH8033 for threeH7969 daysH3117 untilH5704 the pursuersH7291 returnedH7725. Now the pursuersH7291 had soughtH1245 them 25allH3605 along the roadH1870, but had not foundH4672 them. 23Then the twoH8147 menH376 returnedH7725 and cameH3381 downH3381 from the hillH2022 countryH2022 and crossedH5674 overH5674 and cameH935 to JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and they relatedH5608 to him allH3605 that had happenedH4672 to them. 24They saidH559 to JoshuaH3091, “SurelyH3588 the LordH3068 has givenH5414 allH3605 the landH776 into our handsH3027; moreoverH1571, 26allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776 have 27meltedH4127 awayH4127 beforeH4480H6440 us.”
