23When allכָל־khol-H3605the captainsשָׂרֵ֨יsa.ReiH8269of the forcesהַחֲיָלִ֜יםha.cha.ya.LimH2428, they and theirmenH376,heardוַיִּשְׁמְעוּ֩vai.yish.me.'UH8085that the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Babylonבָּבֶל֙ba.VelH894had appointedהִפְקִ֤ידhif.KidH6485Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֔הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436governor,they cameוַיָּבֹ֥אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֖הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436toMizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֑הha.mitz.PahH4709,namely, Ishmaelוְיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אלve.yish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְתַנְיָ֡הne.tan.YahH5418,and JohananH3076the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kareahקָ֠רֵחַKa.re.achH7143,and Seraiahוּשְׂרָיָ֨הu.se.ra.YahH8304the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Tanhumethתַּנְחֻ֜מֶתtan.Chu.metH8576the Netophathiteהַנְּטֹפָתִ֗יha.ne.to.fa.TiH5200,and Jaazaniahוְיַֽאֲזַנְיָ֙הוּ֙ve.ya.'a.zan.Ya.huH2970the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of the Maacathiteהַמַּ֣עֲכָתִ֔יha.Ma.'a.kha.TiH4602,they and their menH376.

24Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֙הוּ֙ge.dal.Ya.huH1436sworeוַיִּשָּׁבַ֨עvai.yi.sha.Va'H7650to them and their menH376and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Do not be afraidתִּֽירְא֖וּti.re.'UH3372of the servantsמֵעַבְדֵ֣יme.'av.DeiH5650of the Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֑יםha.kas.DimH3778;liveשְׁב֣וּshe.VuH3427in the landבָאָ֗רֶץva.'A.retzH776and serveוְעִבְד֛וּve.'iv.DuH5647the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Babylonבָּבֶ֖לba.VelH894,and it will be wellוְיִטַ֥בve.yi.TavH3190with you.”

25But it cameH1961about in the seventhהַשְּׁבִיעִ֗יha.she.vi.'IH7637monthבַּחֹ֣דֶשׁba.Cho.deshH2320,that Ishmaelיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אלyish.ma.'ElH3458the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nethaniahנְ֠תַנְיָהNe.tan.yahH5418,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Elishamaאֱלִ֨ישָׁמָ֜ע'e.Li.sha.Ma'H476,of the royalהַמְּלוּכָ֗הha.me.lu.KhahH4410familyמִזֶּ֣רַעmi.Ze.ra'H2233,cameבָּ֣אba'H935with tenוַעֲשָׂרָ֤הva.'a.sa.RahH6235menH376and struckוַיַּכּ֥וּvai.ya.KuH5221Gedaliahגְּדַלְיָ֖הוּge.dal.Ya.huH1436down so that he diedוַיָּמֹ֑תvai.ya.MotH4191along with the Jewsהַיְּהוּדִים֙hai.ye.hu.DimH3064and the Chaldeansהַכַּשְׂדִּ֔יםha.kas.DimH3778whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834were with him at Mizpahבַּמִּצְפָּֽה׃ba.mitz.PahH4709.

26Then allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971,bothH4480smallמִקָּטֹ֤ןmi.ka.TonH6996and greatגָּדוֹל֙ga.dOlH1419,and the captainsוְשָׂרֵ֣יve.sa.ReiH8269of the forcesהַחֲיָלִ֔יםha.cha.ya.LimH2428aroseוַיָּקֻ֨מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965and wentוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714;for they were afraidיָרְא֖וּya.re.'UH3372of the Chaldeansכַשְׂדִּֽים׃ פkhas.DimH3778.
