1And it cameוַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961about when the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068was about totakeבְּהַעֲל֤וֹתbe.ha.'a.LotH5927up Elijahאֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452by awhirlwindבַּֽסְעָרָ֖הbas.'a.RahH5591to heavenהַשָּׁמָ֑יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064,that Elijahאֵלִיָּ֛הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452wentוַיֵּ֧לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980withElishaוֶאֱלִישָׁ֖עve.'e.li.Sha'H477fromGilgalהַגִּלְגָּֽל׃ha.gil.GalH1537.

2Elijahאֵלִיָּ֨הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559to Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֜ע'e.li.Sha'H477, “Stayשֵֽׁב־shev-H3427hereפֹ֗הFohH6311pleaseנָ֣אna'H4994,for the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has sentשְׁלָחַ֣נִיshe.la.Cha.niH7971me as farעַד־'ad-H5704asBethelH1008.”But Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “As the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416and as you yourselfנַפְשְׁךָ֖naf.she.KhaH5315liveוְחֵֽי־ve.chei-H2416,I will not leaveאֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ'e.'ez.Ve.kaH5800you.” So they wentH3381downוַיֵּרְד֖וּvai.ye.re.DuH3381to BethelH1008.

3Thenthe sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִ֥יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834were atBethelH1008cameוַיֵּצְא֨וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318out to Elishaאֱלִישָׁע֒'e.li.Sha'H477and saidוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to him, “Do you knowהֲיָדַ֕עְתָּha.ya.Da'.taH3045that the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068will takeלֹקֵ֥חַlo.Ke.achH3947away your masterאֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ'a.do.Nei.khaH113from overמֵעַ֣לme.'AlH5921you todayהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117?”And he saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Yesגַּם־gam-H1571,I knowיָדַ֖עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045;be stillהֶחֱשֽׁוּ׃he.che.ShuH2814.”

4Elijahאֵלִיָּ֜הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559to him, “Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֣ע׀'e.li.Sha'H477,pleaseנָ֣אna'H4994stayשֵֽׁב־shev-H3427hereפֹ֗הFohH6311,for the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has sentשְׁלָחַ֣נִיshe.la.Cha.niH7971me toJerichoיְרִיח֔וֹye.ri.ChoH3405.”But he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “As the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,and as you yourselfנַפְשְׁךָ֖naf.she.KhaH5315liveוְחֵֽי־ve.chei-H2416,I will not leaveאֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ'e.'ez.Ve.kaH5800you.” So they cameוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Jerichoיְרִיחֽוֹ׃ye.ri.ChoH3405.

5The sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִ֥יםha.ne.vi.'ImH5030whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834wereat Jerichoבִּֽירִיחוֹ֮bi.ri.ChoH3405approachedוַיִּגְּשׁ֨וּvai.yi.ge.ShuH5066Elishaאֱלִישָׁע֒'e.li.Sha'H477and saidוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to him, “Do you knowהֲיָדַ֕עְתָּha.ya.Da'.taH3045that the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068will takeלֹקֵ֥חַlo.Ke.achH3947away your masterאֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ'a.do.Nei.khaH113from overמֵעַ֣לme.'AlH5921you todayהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117?” And heansweredוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Yesגַּם־gam-H1571,I knowיָדַ֖עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045;be stillהֶחֱשֽׁוּ׃he.che.ShuH2814.”

6Then Elijahאֵלִיָּ֜הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559to him, “Pleaseנָ֣אna'H4994stayשֵֽׁב־shev-H3427hereפֹ֗הFohH6311,for the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has sentשְׁלָחַ֣נִיshe.la.Cha.niH7971me tothe Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֔נָהhai.yar.De.nahH3383.”And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “As the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,and as you yourselfנַפְשְׁךָ֖naf.she.KhaH5315liveוְחֵֽי־ve.chei-H2416,I will not leaveאֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ'e.'ez.Ve.kaH5800you.” So the twoשְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃she.nei.HemH8147of them wentוַיֵּלְכ֖וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980on.

7Nowfiftyוַחֲמִשִּׁ֨יםva.cha.mi.ShimH2572menאִ֜ישׁ'ishH376of the sonsמִבְּנֵ֤יmi.be.NeiH1121of the prophetsהַנְּבִיאִים֙ha.ne.vi.'ImH5030wentהָֽלְכ֔וּha.le.KhuH1980and stoodוַיַּעַמְד֥וּvai.ya.'am.DuH5975oppositeמִנֶּ֖גֶדmi.Ne.gedH4480 H5048themat a distanceמֵרָח֑וֹקme.ra.ChokH7350,while the twoוּשְׁנֵיהֶ֖םu.she.nei.HemH8147of them stoodעָמְד֥וּ'a.me.DuH5975by the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃hai.yar.DenH3383.

8Elijahאֵלִיָּ֨הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452tookוַיִּקַּח֩vai.yi.KachH3947his mantleאַדַּרְתּ֤וֹ'a.dar.ToH155and foldedH1563it togetherH1563andstruckוַיַּכֶּ֣הvai.ya.KehH5221the watersהַמַּ֔יִםha.Ma.yimH4325,and they were dividedוַיֵּחָצ֖וּvai.ye.cha.TzuH2673hereהֵ֣נָּהHe.nahH2008and thereוָהֵ֑נָּהva.He.nahH2008,so that the twoשְׁנֵיהֶ֖םshe.nei.HemH8147of them crossedH5674overH5674on dryבֶּחָרָבָֽה׃be.cha.ra.VahH2724groundH2724.

9When they had crossedH5674overH5674,Elijahוְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּve.'E.li.Ya.huH452saidאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559to Elishaאֱלִישָׁע֙'e.li.Sha'H477, “Askשְׁאַל֙she.'AlH7592whatמָ֣הmahH4100I shall doאֶֽעֱשֶׂה־'e.'e.seh-H6213for you beforeבְּטֶ֖רֶםbe.Te.remH2962I am takenאֶלָּקַ֣ח'e.la.KachH3947from you.” And Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Pleaseנָ֛אna'H4994, let adoubleשְׁנַ֥יִםshe.Na.yimH8147portionפִּֽי־pi-H6310of your spiritבְּרוּחֲךָ֖be.ru.cha.KhaH7307be upon me.”

10He saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “You have askedלִשְׁא֑וֹלlish.'olH7592a hardH7185thingH7185. Nevertheless,ifאִם־'im-H518youseeתִּרְאֶ֨הtir.'EhH7200me when I am takenלֻקָּ֤חlu.KachH3947from you, it shall be soכֵ֔ןKhenH3651for you; but ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518not, it shall not be so.”

11As they were goingH1980along and talkingוְדַבֵּ֔רve.da.BerH1696,beholdוְהִנֵּ֤הve.hi.NehH2009, there appeareda chariotרֶֽכֶב־re.khev-H7393of fireאֵשׁ֙'eshH784and horsesוְס֣וּסֵיve.Su.seiH5483of fireאֵ֔שׁ'EshH784which separatedוַיַּפְרִ֖דוּvai.yaf.Ri.duH6504the twoשְׁנֵיהֶ֑םshe.nei.HemH8147of them. And Elijahאֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452wentוַיַּ֙עַל֙vai.Ya.'alH5927up by awhirlwindבַּֽסְעָרָ֖הba.se.'a.RahH5591to heavenהַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ha.sha.Ma.yimH8064.

12Elishaוֶאֱלִישָׁ֣עve.'e.li.Sha'H477sawרֹאֶ֗הro.'EhH7200itand criedמְצַעֵק֙me.tza.'EkH6817out, “My fatherאָבִ֣י׀'a.ViH1,my fatherאָבִ֗י'a.ViH1, thechariotsרֶ֤כֶבRe.khevH7393of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478and its horsemenוּפָ֣רָשָׁ֔יוu.Fa.ra.ShavH6571!”And he sawרָאָ֖הוּra.'A.huH7200Elijah noוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808moreע֑וֹדodH5750. Thenhe tookH2388holdוַֽיַּחֲזֵק֙vai.ya.cha.ZekH2388of his own clothesבִּבְגָדָ֔יוbiv.ga.DavH899and toreוַיִּקְרָעֵ֖םvai.yik.ra.'EmH7167them in twoלִשְׁנַ֥יִםlish.Na.yimH8147piecesקְרָעִֽים׃ke.ra.'ImH7168.

13He also tookוַיָּ֙רֶם֙vai.Ya.remH7311up the mantleאַדֶּ֣רֶת'a.De.retH155of Elijahאֵלִיָּ֔הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452that fellנָפְלָ֖הna.fe.LahH5307from him and returnedוַיָּ֥שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725and stoodוַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975by the bankשְׂפַ֥תse.FatH8193of the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃hai.yar.DenH3383.
