Revelation 18:15-24

15The 1merchants of 2these things, who became rich from her, will 3stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16saying, ‘4Woe, woe, 5the great city, she who 6was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and 7adorned with gold and precious 8stones and pearls; 17for in 9one hour such great wealth has been laid 10waste!’ And 11every shipmaster and every 12passenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, 13stood at a distance, 18and were 14crying out as they 15saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘16What city is like 17the great city?’ 19And they threw 18dust on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘19Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea 20became rich by her 21wealth, for in 22one hour she has been laid 23waste!’ 2024Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you 25saints and 26apostles and prophets, because 27God has 28pronounced judgment for you against her.”

21Then 29a 30strong angel 31took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “So will Babylon, 32the great city, be thrown down with violence, and 33will not be found any longer. 22And 34the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman of any craft will be found in you any longer; and the 35sound of a mill will not be heard in you any longer; 23and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the 36voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your 37merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived 38by your sorcery. 24And in her was found the 39blood of prophets and of 40saints and of 41all who have been slain on the earth.”
